The scope of the search is not defined by the nature of the container in which the contraband is secreted. Rather, it is defined by the object of the search and the places in which there is probable cause to believe that it may be found. For example, probable cause to believe that undocumented aliens are being transported in a van will not justify a warrantless search of a suitcase." The Court collectively held that, "Police officers who have legitimately stopped an automobile and who have probable cause to believe that contraband is concealed somewhere within it may conduct a warrantless search of the vehicle that is as thorough as a magistrate could authorize by warrant,"(p.2159) but, "the probable cause determination must be based on objective facts that could justify the issuance of a warrant by a magistrate, and not merely on the subjective good faith. -= United States v. I don't know if the comment was serious of not or if the individual was even a Mason. Since the question of Masons in law enforcement had arisen here a short while ago, I wondered if you were making some reference to them. Guess not. Look closer. If a cop beats on protesters, it is 'bad' but may not be race driven. Ok, an example. A cop has to shoot someone in line of duty. True lack of racism means the color of the persons involved, is not an issue so that only the rightness of the action is the issue. Dont _assume_ because the cop may have been white, and the person shot may have been black, that racism is part of the shooting. That vision of it perpetuates racism. We arent past it totally, but we are really and truely worlds ahead on the issue over our parents and our kids really wont *care* in most cases about the color of a person. I myself am at the point where when asked the color of a person I know, I have to stop and think most of the time. Unless they have made an issue of it, I tend to be 'colorblind' and it's hard to remember unless I know them well enough to actually picture their face mentally. I remember ranks (military here) fairly well. xxcarol --- Telegard v3.09.b16 * Origin: SHENK'S EXPRESS Norfolk VA 757-486-3057 28.8 Dual (1:275/100) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 198 ASK A COP Ref: F4200175 Date: 04/01/98 From: CAROL SHENKENBERGER Time: 07:07pm \/To: RYAN BAGUEROS (Read 1 times) Subj: Re: STREET PEOPLE *** Quoting Ryan Bagueros from a message to Carol Shenkenberger *** RB> * Quoting Carol Shenkenberger from a message to Ryan Bagueros CS> Whats wrong with capitalism?
