People are people and color has nothing I think you make a good point. A lot of white people just automatically consider themselves not "racist" or "prejudiced." Unless you are a Nazi, you sits around and thinks about how racist they are? However, racism is more than just a conscious belief in white supremacy. Racism is your attitude, how you interact with people, your politics, etc. And I think that's how society has changed from the 60s - then, you could watch racism on your tv spelled right out for you in the form of a cop beating protesters. Today, the media and everyone else acts like racism is very nearly a thing of the past. I think it has gotten more subtle and more institutional, become a part of social institutions like the job market, schools, the criminal justice system. --- FMail 1.22 * Origin: #thepublicistoblame#.subversivetelecom.OHiO (1:226/580.5) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 198 ASK A COP Ref: F4200139 Date: 03/28/98 From: RYAN BAGUEROS Time: 02:26pm \/To: CAROL SHENKENBERGER (Read 1 times) Subj: Re: STREET PEOPLE Quoting Carol Shenkenberger from a message to Ryan Bagueros CS> Whats wrong with capitalism? The only reason a LEO would need a unit like this would be to record things having to do with his work. It maybe recording himself at traffic stops to protect himself from someone accusing him of wanting/taking a bribe or recording evidence of a crime. If it ever comes down to using a tape like that in court I would think it would be more or less useless once it is known that the recorder can be switched on and off.
