See, it pings a button of mine. I have this odd disorder. I was not told I had it, and simply encouraged to work harder at spelling and to enjoy reading whatever *I* wanted to read. By very hard work, it is no longer apparent I have dyslexia. Talk over spelling, upsets me. See, well I cant 'see' words quite like i am told you folks do. I read phonetically, hunt-n-peck type at almost 40 words a minute, and have no remaining problems anyone would note unless I told them (ah! The sweet smell of success!). Not really, Rich. The way such property is confiscated is more CIVIL in nature and not subject to the same limitations as criminal proceedings. Lalaland is a prgfect example of fai -> of this gimme I want and you owe me syndrome I do not necessarily agree, Mike. In MY experience, it seems it is easier to get a job if you have an appearance that is agreeable to those doing the hiring. Employers chose work candidates that are familiar to them and do not upset their "comfort-zones" rather than specifically on competence. This is unfortunate because many are denied a livelihood or made to struggle harder to get one despite their abilities/acumen because employers are in a position to indulge biases. When a work-seeker's money runs out and he cannot pay his debts because no one is hiring and temp agencies are dragging their heels, what alternatives are left to carry on? SOME street-people share the state due to these conditions. To lift yourself out is a long tedious business because societal "due process" is more concerned with bureaucratic needs than those of humans. Perhaps another failure is that people who are qualified for a job and do want one can be denied off-hand in the name of "freedom" of employers to hire/turn away who they wish. Society demands that people work/pull their weight yet reserves for the elite the right to parcel out employment according to whim and in their good time. Where is the protection of the citizen to gaining dignified work according to his skills? We idolize Michael Jordan or Pete Sampras for being sports heros and think it is wonderful to give them multi-millions JUST TO PLAY A GAME. The US system grants Robert Downey, Jr. a furlough from prison so that he can act/safeguard his million-dollar film deal. Millions that they will never need. And yet hundreds of thousands struggle through life in the US trying to earn enough to cover the rent. And here we are in this NG pointing the finger at those who have nothing at all, whether they want a handout or not. --- WILDMAIL!/WC v4.12 * Origin: Computer One BBS (818) 763-0678 - bbsinfo@comp1.com (1:102/836.0) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 198 ASK A COP Ref: F3T00013 Date: 03/22/98 From: DON BOX Time: 08:33pm \/To: RYAN BAGUEROS (Read 1 times) Subj: STREET PEOPLE RB> are you motivated primarily by money?
