Well to some extent i think that violence in a movie is fun. After all, most of the viewers.. probably boys.. are looking for some action (as in fighting or violence), it makes a movie rather cool. Now of course there are some movies, like The Texas Chain Saw Massacre.. which is just soo full of wanton macabre.. its insane. I lived in the Sheraton Washington Hotel (my father used to manage it) and in my room i had a standard issue hotel TV with The Movie Channel.. i saw that movie back in 1983 when i was 5 years old.. and it must have taken me a year to recover from that... my parents then had a movie box installed on it so i couldnt get HBO or the Movie Channel.. :(.. heh... i mean, even though the first Chainsaw Massacre was a true movie.. it was still pretty sick, the horror movies of the 70s were... well.. they were much different from the horror movies of today. To be honest, i actually think we have improved. Sure it may be more blatent and open about it now, but the movies that came out during the 70s, like Evil Dead (awsome), The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and some others, it was VERY mental. Not only was it violent but it messed with your psychy or something. The new movies, they just put that stuff in to pass the time between plot points. I think its up to the parents to teach the children the difference between movie violence and real life. Simply restricting an older child from watching such movies is just in my opinion, a parent hoping to... pass on their duties.. by getting rid of the problem... or no.. by ignoring the problem.. they hope it will just go away.. when it really needs to be addressed. Sure i dont think i shoudl have seen the Texas Chainsaw Massacre back when i was 5.. or Evil Dead when i was 4... or Night of the Living Dead and all those, but when your like 11 or 12.. you are quite able to understand reality, sure your very impressionable.. but with things such as violence on TV, simply having a parent explaining it can make the child more responsible about it. --- InterEcho 1.19 * Origin: Law Enforcement Computer Network - (954) 430-7300 (1:369/20) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 198 ASK A COP Ref: F1B00023 Date: 01/06/98 From: TODD JASPERS Time: 01:11pm \/To: CHARLES HUNTER (Read 1 times) Subj: 2-Way Radio Co-invent -> CHARLES HUNTER . .
