------------------------------------------------------------------- MAINTENANCE WORKERS FAULTED FOR STEALTH CRASH A $42 million stealth fighter lost a wing and crashed during a September air show because maintenance workers failed to install four bolts, the Air Force said Friday. An investigation found that only one of five 1-inch bolts that help keep the wing in place was put back during January 1996 repairs. Two later maintenance checks failed to spot the problem. NOTE: The names of those responsible for the missing bolts were lost when maintenance records were transferred from paper to computer. === --- DB 1.39/004487 * Origin: Volunteer BBS (423) 694-0791 V34+/VFC (1:218/1001.1) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 196 AVIATION Ref: EGJ00005 Date: 12/14/97 From: PHIL MCCLOUD Time: 09:31pm \/To: ROB STEPHENSON (Read 0 times) Subj: Re: , On 13 Dec 97 17:11:38, Rob Stephenson said the following to All: RS> Is anyone hooked up to this echo?
