These modems require the new firmware to be programmed into a PROM. After that you will have to replace the old PROM by the newly programmed PROM. I seem to remember that they are TM27C010s and that I used Macronix 27C1000 70ns chips the last time I was burning a set. This is no Omni, Elite or what, which contain flash-ROMs, but the good old external 1496E+ which has normal EPROMS. You need an EPROM-programmer to do that, and a UV-light to erase the old one. Therefore you need to contact your supplier who sold it to you, he may have the opportunity to 'burn' the EPROMs. Also, I saw somewhere that the 6.19 version is forthcoming, correct, Horst? Vartan, do you also have problems answering calls with the old version? My experience lately also with 6.15 P is that many a caller can't get connected at all, and some with 4800 and a lot of errors, while they use a 14400 modem. What may be wrong?
