Two of the best B-52 pilots that I knew became instructors for Boeing in the 727 program.. Bill Yingling and Charlie Page... But that was 30 years ago. Have you heard of them??? The AT-7, AT-11 and C-45 versions of the Beech 18 made an idiot of many good pilots on landing... Also the Gooney Bird could do the same.... The gooney is still flying until parked. :) -=* Jim Sanders *=- ... Freddy Raynham was given credit for being the first to learn how to recover from a spin and come back to teach how it was done. I believe Freddy had British license in the first 20. Not sure.... He told me that taugh spins as an emergency way to get an enemy off their tail in WW I combat. I had some long sessions with Freddy right there in LaFeria which I wish I had on tape. He died soon after leaving there for Denver in 1954. A real pioneer in British aviation. both power and glider. -=* Jim Sanders *=- === * MsgView V1.13 [R028] * I want to join the human race. Ouch! Thats sounds bitter. Standing fireguard in thos conditions oculd be a bear too. Looks like the afternoon thunderstorm is about to hit. All day I have tried to remove the old hood release cable from by chev and no luck so I put back together what I had removed. It has a large moulded-on grommet at the firewall that I couldn't get pulled out. Replacement has a different type grommet and smaller too. This mod allowed bigger bomb loads and the ability to move from the cockpit to the rearend. Some of them gained DC-6 wheels and brakes which were much better along with tip tanks and CB-16 engines. All of this improved the performance. Colorado Gas Company used to have a 26K based at BJC near me for a company hauler. Painted in jungle green camoflauge. Need to ask some of the kids what CAPNET is doing. Believe it or not, some of the messages from this echo get onto my printer and find their way to cadets when useful. We now have 11 year old entry level. Did 5 each 1/2 hour orientation flights Thursday. Got a pretty ambitious bunch of (recent) ex-USAF guys who are flying for FedEx and teaching gliders alternate weeks. I am just a daddy with 500 old hours ASEL, ready to get current again as the older kids get out of college, and stay as close to flying as possible. Mostly a lurker here, but really enjoy the exchanges on this echo. | AmiQWK 2.9 - FREEWARE | ... --- WILDMAIL!/WC v4.12 * Origin: Anchorage Hub - Anchorage, AK - V.34+ - (1:3550/500.0)
