Please, I ask again, if you want something included in the next version of Opus, make sure that you send it to the OOWK (Official Opus Wishlist Keeper) Joe Rowehl. That's the problem in a nutshell. Everyone's waiting for someone else to do something. The unfortunate thing is that the number of "someone elses" is so small that there's not a lot going to be done. Once upon a time, there was a large and happy band of willing helpers. Now there seems to be a growing number of unhappy and demanding consumers. A couple of recent examples: (1) Request for Opus foreign language translators. Result: not one single person responded. (2) Request for modem info. Result: big result here folks, what was it? Four responses. Support was added for "permanent" file areas (mainly for CD-ROMs) and the actual BTree indexing was improved so that utilities such as OFARE can "repair" what would previously have been a totally corrupted database. Opus can't get an "OK" > from the modem. 1. Is your modem on the correct COM port? Check the BBS.CTL file that was generated. 2. Do you have a comms fossil installed? Did you "recapture" the comms fossil interrupt after installing the chat fossil? 3. Does your modem init string make sense? If you send the same init string to the modem in a terminal program, does the modem respond with "OK"? 4. Try replacing the modem init string with just "AT|". Sorry, I must have missed your message. I've never used OMAN for menu maintenance, so I'm not sure what the problem is. I know that SPICE is supposed to be able to do menu maintenance. Have you tried SPICE? Load it with your clean and simlpe editor/wordpro and Look for EQUIPMENT SECTION. There you will find your INIT string. Get your modem Docs and write the inti string, example: INIT AT&F&C1&D2E0S0=0S11=50S7=45H0LMX4V1| Save it... I think you may have missed the original - I was responding to someone who asked if there were a better way to change events other than what was provided. My response above was to indicate I take care of things with OMAN. I have also looked at spice and used in for menus. I figured it must be necessary (and not OMAN) because there were new menus included with the new version of OPUS. But now that I have your ear... has there been any change to the USER, NODELIST and EVENTS behavior and string lengths of OPUS 1.79?
