When the user aborts a packet download, O_Qwker flashes it's 'updating pointers' message on the sysop screen, and the lastread pointers are in fact updated because a repack does not find new msgs. Conversely, in 'netmail' or 'local' rather than 'echomail' areas, sometimes msgs are downloaded several times is successive scans. The pointers are apparently not updated. Am I doing something wrong? Any clues what other symptoms I should look for, or other tests? ==== Chris, no, that SDSOPUS test file did not arrive here. :-) jB-) --- * Origin: :nigirO * (1:141/355) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 195 MEADOW Ref: E4400001 Date: 04/01/97 From: JOE ROWEHL Time: 11:43pm \/To: CHRISTOPHER BAKER (Read 0 times) Subj: Re: did anyone see the test file? > in SDS area SDSOPUS? > > it's been awhile since i hatched it out and i haven't seen > any comments. SDS is mostly broken due to the fact that Tom Hendricks no longer passes files along to George Peace at 270/101. In fact, I think 261/662 (Hendricks' system) disappeared from the nodelist. - Bob Internet : bob@juge.com Telnet, Vmodem, WWW or FTP to juge.com --- timEd/386 1.10+ * Origin: COMM Port OS/2 juge.com 204.89.247.1 (281) 980-9671 (1:106/2000) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 195 MEADOW Ref: E4400003 Date: 04/02/97 From: HARRY OLDENHUIS Time: 10:15pm \/To: MEL PHEASANT (Read 0 times) Subj: Re: Max v2.0x -> Opus 1.7x Hallo Mel MP> The FAT system is pretty sad. TO: trev@ibm.net Version of Opus: last ran 1.73a (still on a machine) public node now runs Maximus 2.02 Front end Mailer: (edited end note) I hope this helps in your development plans. It seems that a BBS that "bridges" the internet and fidonet would give the best of both worlds. Instead of fooling with ansi or rip graphics go right to HTML. Allow a user to call the system with a SLP or PPP script or as a regular BBS enduser. Have a system that can make all the needed drop files INTERNALLY like MAX does. How about an interface to allow the use of PCBoard PPE's or ProBoard PEX stuff along with the MAX MEX and MECCA. Don't kill the opus frontend in first release but update it for high speed modems and current full addressing so it can used as a powerful but very -easy- point system. That's my two cents worth....... JR> JR> That request came from Michael Epler... Mike, can you answer JR> that one for us?? As to "what it means" I'll put three little snippets here: A Simple HTML Example

HTML is Easy To Learn

Welcome to the world of HTML. This is the first paragraph. While short it is still a paragraph!

And this is the second paragraph.

The first part is a condensed "document" that illustrates HTML. HTML is nothing but ascii with the appropriate "tokens" that make the hyper text appear in a browser. If one thinks about OEC/MECCA anyone here already understands the concept......... And graphics can be displayed via HTML: Inline Images Most Web browsers can display inline images (that is, images next to text) that are in X Bitmap (XBM), GIF, or JPEG format. Other image formats are being incorporated into Web browsers [e.g., the Portable Network Graphic (PNG) format]. Each image takes time to process and slows down the initial display of a document. Carefully select your images and the number of images in a document. Alternate Text Embed a graphic image in the document. Attributes: src Specifies the location of the image. alt Allows a text string to be put in place of the image in clients that cannot display images. align Specify a relationship to surrounding text. The argument for align can be one of top, middle, or bottom. ismap If ismap is present and the image tag is within an anchor, the image will become a "clickable image". The pixel coordinates of Soooooooooo...... what I want is the ability to use HTML in a future release of opus..... in a product that bridges both the internet and a bbs (allows both kinds of callers, or with an "interface" knows how to use HTML to a BBS caller. --- Maximus 2.02 * Origin: DelaMarPenn MicroNet -+- Newark, Delaware (1:150/115)
