But I > still love it on my DOS machines. But for the life of me, > I'm stumped on where to start on getting an OS/2 Warp3 > Connect box to talk to the rest of my NWLITE network. No Can Do ! No Nwclient (2.x, 3.x & 4.x) soft can talk to NWLITE Best you can do is to create a image file of a DOS with NWLITE on it and have the OS/2 (non connect, and no OS/2 knowledge of the NIC) act as a NWLITE Server & VDM multitasker, however this rarely works, most often you can only "see" the first couple of entries in each directory when you browse them from a client. However, i have heard that one of the Novell 3.11 Emu's for Linux has been succesfully ported to OS/2. That aint Peer 2 Peer networking, but it is a cheap (actually free) server :-) This however, wont let you see the other machines from the OS/2 machine. regards Kristian Rask --- GEcho 1.02+ * Origin: Using of ISDN gear :-) (2:237/11.405) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 194 NOVELL Ref: EGI00002 Date: 12/13/97 From: JAY STEWART Time: 08:53pm \/To: ALL (Read 3 times) Subj: Limiting file space Hi, I'm managing a Novell 4.10 Network for a school, and we have recently had problems with pupils installing large files (i.e. 15-20MB each) on our server. Crap, some system nerd trys taking away my ability to install new software is going to get his ass fired. I don't work for him, he works for me and I'm the one that allows him on the system . The cure rests in the Novell Server setup, not keeping people from installing software from thier workstations or improperly logging off the system when the big red switch has to be pressed. The real cure is to either setup Novell to close bad sockets, which is what all other decent NOS systems do or change a NOS that is smart enough to do so. Not detected and closing bad sockets/connections has been one of Novell's mindless nuances/problems ever since ELS v 2.10. I always thought Novell Left that "feature" in, so that thier customers would be more inclined to buy more liscenses. I don't know what the cure is with a Novell Server setup but the problem of bad connections has always been inherent in Novell's design and it is not just limited to Windows 95 clients. It's been around for ever w/DOS and perhaps even with CPM novell. Hopefully Novell, other than to recommend buying more liscenses than you need has come up with a better solution. --- Maximus/NT 3.01b1 * Origin: Cowboy Country USA! This discussion belongs in another conference, but to answer your question, No, NT does not copy an image before sending it to the client. NT is quite simple and straightforward in the way it does CD-ROM drives. They guy has some problem with his system (not that I'll discuss here). --- Maximus/NT 3.01b1 * Origin: Cowboy Country USA!
