I think this is something you should take up with Noah. He keeps insisting on inserting/deleting new newsgroups/echoes to his message base, but then he changes the area numbers so replies from packets with the previous numbering scheme end up going to the wrong area under the new scheme when the replies get uploaded. Of course, he adjusts our online area request lists so we are mostly unaware that our replies have been misdirected. My replies in the Evolution echo ended up in the Europe Newsgroup! Although I'm running Personal Netware here, I just selected this group this evening to do some research and see what some of the effects of his "activites" are. I sent his a couple long messages this evening trying to explain the consequences. I don't know whether I'll suceed. ... Hello All, Last weekend I upgraded 9 DOS PC's to Win95 OSR2.1 and IntranetWare Client 2.2. Everything looked OK, but monday morning people started to use their new machines, and especially the most used software on our network: a (DOS based) hotel property management system written in Clipper 5.2e. And after a few hours things didn't look that OK anymore: corrupt database indexes, financial bookings that got overwritten with other bookings, etc., etc. All errors could be tracked down to the Win95 machines, none of the remaining DOS/Win3.11 machines (about 20 or so) could be blamed. First I tried to remedy it by switching all client based caches off (cache writes off, cache level 0, true commit on), but that didn't help at all. Both indexes and databases kept getting corrupt. I then shut down the NetWare 3.11 server, replaced the 3.11 server.exe file with a 3.12 one (all loaded NLM's were already on at least 3.12 level, so hat was no problem), and since then I haven't seen or heard a problem at all. Is this a known problem? Anyone ever experienced a similar problem with Win95 clients under NW 3.11? Regards, Erik --- ifmail v.2.12-tx8.6 * Origin: May it be on this earth? The universe as seen through a particular board, or a JD> set of resources available once authenticated by a particular server? Good question. I'm not entirely sure, but your 2nd explanation seems to fit the facts. I've found that in Win95, you cannot log on using two different network clients at the same time (Novell/MS), and you cannot log on to two different domains using the same network client either. The latter is a major nuisance, as I often need to move data between two different NT domains. JD> I ask, because I can log onto a Warp Server and a Netware server JD> at the same time without issue. We don't use Clipper but have only run into one program that corrupts every time you use it under 95, a DOS program from Cliff Notes - GED. In the server install it has a central database that falls apart within hours/minutes.
