A bit extreme perhaps, but sometimes there's just not enough free IRQs. SS> INT 0 is System Timer SS> INT 1 is Keyboard SS> INT 2 is Cascade -> INT 9 SS> INT 3 is COM2 SS> INT 4 is Mouse SS> INT 5 NOW Network Card SS> Don't suppose you know what INT 2 is actually used for ??? (Its really IRQs (hardware interrupts), not INTs (software).) The original PC/XT only had 8 interrupt lines. The second interrupt controller that handles IRQs 8 to 15 on ATs and above is connected to IRQ2 on the first controller. The pin on the ISA bus that used to be IRQ2 on XTs is now IRQ9. IOW, you can jumper the card to use IRQ2 and set the driver to IRQ9 in NET.CFG. SS> Or the fact that I was being a mupped that after being told that they SS> were NE2000's thats what I was trying to configure, just out of curiosity SS> I tried using the adapter and settings for a NE1000 and it worked :)) You can easily tell a NE2000 from a NE1000. The NE1000 is an 8-bit card, meaning that it only has the larger of the two connectors that plugs into the ISA bus. - KR - --- BBBS/NT v3.33 How * Origin: Circle of Protection +47 55961259 ISDN/V.34+ (2:211/37) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 194 NOVELL Ref: EFW00011 Date: 11/27/97 From: UBAIDULLAH NUBAR Time: 10:23pm \/To: ALAN FRAYER (Read 3 times) Subj: Cne certification -=> Quoting Alan Frayer to Ubaidullah Nubar <=- -> Does the CNE web site have it? Therefore it "eats" backslashes at times and does not pass them on. Hence, the original message may have had the two backslashes as required, but I only got to see one of them when it passed through Searchlight. Similarly, my reply, in which I typed TWO backslashes, may have reached you with only one...or none. Cachebuffers are between 60% and 70% which should not be the problem. User alloc short term memory is about 2,5 MB from a configured size of 8,5 MB. There are also messages on the console that an allocation for short term memory has failed. In the Netxplor console are the following statistics: NetXploer in starting process (about 40 minutes, then it is down) NXPIP counts up until 2 (is active about 1 hour) NXPIPX Counts up until 1 (also active about one hour) NXPLANZ in starting process till it is down but behaviour of the system does not change when it is deactivated. After about one hour you cannot reach the server via rconsole or attach, but you can work at the server console. We have installed cron to reboot the server every 90 minutes at the moment. Hope that was Information enough for the moment. Our next steps will be to try out our configuration on a new hardware (in the Moment we have a 486 dx2 50 with ISA board) and on a IntranetWare 4.11 server.
