This CD-rom uses a own controller card. Is there a NLM for Hmmm... Is that the caddy version? I had one which I dug up for a Novell installation of v4.1. It runs from DOS, haven't ever seen any NLMs for cd-roms other than the SCSI and IDE. If it's one of the Panasonic proprietary controller drives then it's useable under DOS only. It works great in DOS but when I load Netfos in WIN95 it gives nothing... I tried to detect and to manually install my modem (Supra Faxmodem 14.4i) but Windows couldn't reach it. WS> LOAD OS2.NAM WS> add name space OS2 to volume WS> Make sure that the latest patches for NW 3.11 are installed. The patch OS20PNFX.NLM is what you are after. You also need to tell Win95 that you are using long filenames on a 3.11 server. By default, Win95 will disable long filename support if it sees a 3.11 server. Follow these instructions from Microsoft: To enable long filename support on NetWare servers in Windows 95, use either of the following methods: - Edit the System.ini file located in the Windows directory. Add the following line to the [Nwredir] section of the file SupportLFN= where is one of the following values: Value Description ------------------------------------------------------------------- 1 Enables long filename support for NetWare servers version 3.12 and later 2 Enables long filename support for all NetWare servers that support long filenames, including NetWare 3.11 servers on which the OS/2 name space patch has been applied After you make this change to the System.ini file, save and then close the file, and then restart your computer. - Use Registry Editor to delete the existing SupportLFN value under the following registry key: Hkey_Local_Machine\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\VxD\Nwredir After you delete this value, create a new binary value with the same name, and assign it a value of 2. WARNING: Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall Windows 95. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the incorrect use of Registry Editor can be solved. Use Registry Editor at your own risk. mgm --- timEd 1.10+ * Origin: Tardis BBS +61 3 9819 7093 (3:633/260) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 194 NOVELL Ref: EBD00005 Date: 07/07/97 From: DAVE BEDWIN Time: 05:44am \/To: DIRK HOMRIGHAUSEN (Read 2 times) Subj: WINDOWS NT and Novell Server 3.12 Dirk Homrighausen wrote in a message to all: DH> I want to connect an WINDOWS NT 4.0 Client to a Novell DH> Server 3.12. For trustee assignments, there are a variety of freeware tools which allow you to record them in a form which allows easy restoration. The one I'm most familiar with (as i wrote it ) is trstlist in jrb300a.zip available from the apps directory on netlab2.usu.edu. The following command would save all trustee assignments as 'grant' commands: trstlist vol1: /ddft /b /l=vol1.bat which could be reinstated by executing vol1.bat. There is a problem however, doing this for SYS: Print servers have trustee assignments to their subdirs of SYS:SYSTEM, but the GRANT program works only for user and group objects. =============================================== Scott Parks sparks@helix.eskimo.com --- GEcho 1.11+ * Origin: Helix BBS - Support National Public Radio (1:343/70)
