At work we have a Novell 3.12 server with Cheyenne Arcserve and at backup time he/she politely asks the server to close the bindery and asks to open it again when done. This seems to release all files (except those in use by a few automatic work stations) for backup. P18:35:0605/05/97 Hello All! One of my friends have the following problem: There is an IntraNetware (4.11) server and lotta connections to the server. Typically there is about 350 connections at the same time. It's Compaq Proliant with dual P-Pro, 192Mb RAM, 25Gb disk space, etc. Hardware works great and utilization is average. Users with connection ID 251 or more have problem with old DOS programs using Netware's TTS and other things that came from Novell 3.11. As far as I remember 3.11 max license were for 250 users... Old programs are unable to get correct connection ID, etc. Is there any way how to get around this problem except forcing users who need to use old DOS stuff come to work earlier and get lower connection ID? :) Thanks in advance! I have a few servers containing over 90,000 files per volume, and I want to know how many files and directories there are precisely on the server. In that way I can compare the numbers the backup-program reports to the real numbers. DOS 6.22 DIR, Norton Utilities and TREE-variants fail here; they don't seem to count as far as 90,000 files. Does anyone know a tool to count this number of files on a volume? Hi Shaun, > Printing generally works quite well apart from sometimes I have > to send > a CR to the printer to kick it into action, ie. ECHO. > PRN > Typically the problem occurs with a screen dump (Print Screen). My users have these same problem every now and then, whatever printer or workstation they use. The problem at my site is that when you issue a print-screen, the page is not full and there is no form feed (ASCII 12). Thus the printer waits for more data or a form feed before it starts printing the page. Printing from normal applications usually does not confront you with this problem, since the app's isuue the final form feed themselves after the last page. You may try a CAPTURE LPT1 /FF for the printscreens, although it will result in extra empty pages with prints from real applications.
