Actually, I don't have a multiple server arrangement. Single server only, and it is 4.10. I was thinking of download the file from Novell's web page and installing it, but wanted to make sure that 4.10 wouldn't have a problem with it (with all the patches installed, of course). :) Richard Shiflett --- TosScan 1.00 * Origin: Snipe's Castle - [MO] (1:105/307) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 194 NOVELL Ref: E4B00011 Date: 04/05/97 From: CHRIS SCHOPPY Time: 08:41pm \/To: ALL (Read 4 times) Subj: Network Timeout Failure To all CNA/CNE's out there: I am currently helping out with the network administration of a school district out this way. We are having a small problem with a network timeout failure on the system that is currently running Novell NetWare 3.11. We are using Novell NetWare 3.11 and IBM Classroom Administratration system (ICLASS) and what is happening is this. When a users uses the unction to passthru to another file server, and sits at the passthru screen for more than two minutes, a message comes up saying: SHELL-332-80: Network Error on Server Science. Connection no logner valid. Abort, Retry? Anytime a user then hits "A", a message displays: Batch File Missing Then the system drops the user into the F:\LOGIN> Directory. I looked for he missing batch file in all the network startup files but could not find it anywhere. To anyone out there who could help us fix this small problem, it would be great assistance to us and to the school district. For some reason my DNS tree shows a NOV410 volume attached to the second server that I didn't create and can't access. I thought it might be a CD-Rom, but I'm not running cdrom.nlm right now. I loaded cdrom.nlm and purged the list but the object is still there. I've run dsrepair and have the latest patches I'm aware of installed. I did load the system from CD if thats any help. When I use VLM's the clients always find the Prefered Server that I put in Net.cfg, but when I use Client32 I can find the 4.10 servers most of the time, and the 3.12 servers come up with a warning about my NIC cards or cableing. The 3.12 servers do work sometimes, but not others and there is no pattern to when they work. The binded protocols are correct. The problem seems to be client32 but whats wrong? I'm using 3COM NIC's on the client's and both the install and when I step through the startnet.bat (Command /y/c startnet.bat) there are no error messages. These are ISA cards.
