RW> There's no way your gona 'hack' your way in.. :} I do have supe access in my homedir. We do got access flag. We also do got a fast educated admin, who know less about Netware than the students. Our admin is considered JUNK since the last occasion, the whole network was infected by a virus, originated from the PUBLIC directory. Some even tried to explain that since we can't write to that disk it must been himself who infected the server, but he didn't believe us. I do not want to ask help from a admin who changed the internet password and then forgot it so that NO ONE can use internet for some weeks. Even one of the teachers seemed to be embaranced of the accident but our admins are too stupid to realize what threat the serve to our network. So, except for the printer, I have access for everything I want to access. And I do believe such rights can be archived through what you call hacking, since my friends who use a 3.12 nw find a way to do it on their network. RW> When you log in, check your comspec setting.. If it was a standard copy of Netware 4.1 then you would just load install and select install license. This would add the new 5 user with the 2 user and effectively give you a 7 user license (I've done this with a 5 & 25 user license without incident). BUT seeing as it's a 2 user demo copy I'm not sure if this will still work. TB> Could I copy the Bindery files over and then restore a tape backup TB> from the workstation? If you've got a NDS aware backup software then I 'spose this would work. If your backup software isn't NDS aware you could always grab JCMD (an ms-dos emulator for Netware 4 !) and copy the NDS database files to a floppy, install your 5 user over the old setup and restore the NDS database files (with JCMD). I'm not sure how well this would work but it's good in theory ! *8-) Rgds, Chris ... It depends on how big/busy your network is. upgrading to a P-120 won't make the network any faster but if you have applications/users that really thrash the servers disk reasources then it might be wise to upgrade just to get faster disk throughput. You might also get away with just adding more ram, too much is never enough ! *8-) MB> I did get my utilization lower ( installed a 3c590 PCI ) and more MB> recently split the network into two segments to get more I/O. IDE drives/controllers are CPU hogs. Try to use only SCSI-II if you can, once you have only SCSI-II devices and a decent controller (say an Adaptec 2940) you will notice a speedup in throughput.
