DR> Now I've got a system with 2 1.6gig drives DR> Yes/No Part way. Remember the mirrors have to be the same size. The process should work as you described. You'll get real good at renaming Netware volumes. As I recall, you cannot rename a volume with the volume mounted. So you'll have to bring Netware up partway to get at the partitions and then rename the volumes. Additionally, you'll end up with 2-1 gig mirrored partitions, not 2-1.6 gig ones. When you mirror the 1.6 to the 1 gig, you'll have two 1 gig parititions. When you mirror the 1.6 to another 1.6, as you started with 1 gig, you'll have 2 1 gig mirrors, not 2 1.6 gig. You will not be able to get at the remaining space on the 1.6ers under Novell. Netware supports only one partition per physical drive. You could create DOS partitions on the remaining space. However, Netware does not allow you to get at DOS partitions. The space is effectively wasted. DR> Also.... DR> When does the actual "mirroring" or copying of all the DR> files take place? DR> After exiting setup, do I down the server and reboot or does DR> all this magic happen after exiting install? After performing all the magic to mirror, you ESC out of the screens. When you ESC out, the mirroring starts and runs as long as it takes. You do not have to take the server down, either during or after the mirror. Once the mirror is created, when the file server is booted, the mirror is checked and rebuilt if require. framsey@goodyear.com; CIS 71631,1032 - CNE, CNA-4, PE --- EZPoint V2.2 * Origin: -- A Point on Pine Lake (330)-796-3146 -- (1:157/603.70) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 194 NOVELL Ref: DFJ00120 Date: 11/12/96 From: HARRY OLDENHUIS Time: 11:34pm \/To: HELP (Read 6 times) Subj: Password file HI I was wondering if sombody would know where novel creates the login file when you login to the system. When the system stops and you restart the computer Novel asks you for a password to get back into Novel. I would like to delete that file so that I can have automatic restart the connection with Novel. I run a BBs and I can do the first login with Batch files but not the second time I found out. The computer then locks up, It does not like Power failures. Cheers Harry --- Maximus/2 3.01 * Origin: OziWest BBs Perth W.A.
