Netware 3.x and 4.x must be run from a dedicated PC. This isn't exactly true. His system should support a 3.12 server in an OS2 window and at least two client windows according to the textbook in either NET TECH 200 or the 802 course. We didn't do the exercise because we ran out of time but the instructor offered to stay late to show us how to do it. > The 4.1 CD does include a version that runs under OS2 if that would help. He needs to partition the disk for an OS2 partition and a Netware partition, bring up OS2 and open a DOS window and Install Netware. Once he has his Server up and running, he can open up another Dos partition and install client software on the Dos/OS2 partition. Once he has that going he can run startnet and login to his server. then he cah run Rconsole or anyother Netware utility for training purposes. A network with multiple 4.1 and 3.12 servers. We brought up a new 4.1 server and added it to the already existing NDS tree. Well the server object in the tree showed up as a "unknown" (?) in NWAdmin. The guy doing the install had the idea of re-installing the server software. He deleted the server object from the NDS tree and dropped the Netware partition. During the new install the message came up that a Server with that name already existed in the main tree. We went and looked in NWAdmin and the server object was back, and now no longer showed as unknown. This in spite of the fact that the server was no longer running. When we tried to delete the server object, we were told that we did not have proper rights to the server object. We were logged-in as ADMIN and using the Partmgr utility. No matter what we do we cannot seem to do anything with this server object. How can we get rid of this server object so we can install the server again?
