My copy of Novell Netware v3.12 were the earlier version as you have mentioned above because they came on 23 diskettes of 1.44 and nothing more, no electronic documentation with this one... I know what you mean... 15 disks of 1.44, wow!. I just copied them into a temporary direcotory and install from there... beats the disk shuffling... The version I got is dated back to 1994 when Novell made it avalaible on their ftp site, but now they are not in the site specified anymore, do you know where I can obtain the latest copy? Or is that 1994 still the latest copy? Although it would be nice, Win95's DOS sessions are running in real mode, and 'cos Netware needs to address the RAM directly, it will want to be running in protected mode. This problem also happens if you, like a user on our 100-user Netware server, decided they want to search through the entire SYS: volume looking for a file, and they way exceed their directory search limits! I know there is an option either in the server's AUTOEXEC.NCF or something to disable the limit, from memory, I think it's SET MAXIMUM OUTSTANDING NCP SEARCHES = bloody huge number. What basically happens is that the program searches for the file, then opens it, looks at the first little bit of it (this is from what I remember), then closes it. Netware sees these happening so much, that it thinks you've loading the server adversely (and it has the same effect as being an idiot and doing a DIR /S on a large volume, rather than NDIR! Thanks though. Where are you looking for improvement. Perhaps it's the wrong area.
