How would you sell me another 32MB of RAM? Jeff, I'm not going to be drawn into a justification of rules of thumb. And with memory so cheap, the cost of memory isn't the big issue use to be. Suffice it to say, Netware LOVES memory. Performance comes from having lots of things cached in memory. Sure, fast disk and network IO can affect performance. My thoughts are to make sure memory is not an issue. No way, no how. Always know the server has at least 60% free cache. 80% would be better. Novell says the short term cache hit rate should be very close to 100% for the best performance. Long term cache hit rate should be 98% or better. framsey@goodyear.com - CNE, PE - CIS 71631.1032 --- EZPoint V2.2 * Origin: -- A Point on Pine Lake (330)-796-3146 -- (1:157/603.70) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 194 NOVELL Ref: DCP00010 Date: 08/19/96 From: FRANK RAMSEY Time: 09:44pm \/To: JOERG BRANAHL (Read 5 times) Subj: Re: Netware and Windows JB> Hi Netware-Users !
