I just checked it... I think it can run without having to install 4dos as the Command Interpeter. Maybe somthing you could do is... User enters / clicks / whatever excutes the command to login wich callls a bat file, the bat file asks the user to input their User ID then PW, the bat file loads Keystack like so keystack "%1" /w180 "%2" The above would be %1 = user ID passed from the Batfile %2 = PW passed from the batFile the /w180 is a wait statement so novell has a chance to catchup and wait for the PW prompt. Justa Thought. .... Keystack can be found just about anywhere. --- FMailX 1.02 * Origin: Digital WasteLand (519)972-6828 (1:246/53) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 194 NOVELL Ref: DCA00010 Date: 08/06/96 From: MATT BEDYNEK Time: 12:09am \/To: PETER HICKS (Read 6 times) Subj: Network slowdowns Hello Peter! Look for the SP> "Netware" on the box. Hi Scott, The software that I have is Seagate Backup. The manual says that it will back up all Netware specific files if you are logged in as supervisor. I could see that the bindery files were being closed and reopened when I ran the backup. But it came for restore, it did not restore those files although it asked me if wanted to restore the bindery and I said yes. As for the print queues, I could not see the files on the tape. The occurrence of severe errors such that some of the normal files (non-Netware related files) could not be compared successfully indicates something wrong with the hardware. What do you think? Using the wrong tape technology? For server backups, I strongly suggest a mature technology like DAT or DLT. Some folks will recommend 8 MM also. I will not. You're seeing the limitations of first the client software and second the floppy interface. I've never been happy with floppy tape solution, except in an emergency. Have too many bad experiences, including tapes that verify fine but cannot be used during restore. As for backing up files in print queues, I'd suggest you rethink. It would seem more important to get the server and data files back than printouts that might be days/weeks old. The problem with "hidden" files most likely is software. However, virtually no backup solution I've heard of will backup files that are open. Perhaps you've got some of them also. framsey@goodyear.com - CNE, PE - CIS 71631.1032 --- EZPoint V2.2 * Origin: -- A Point on Pine Lake (330)-796-3146 -- (1:157/603.70)
