Many thanks, Mike.
My supervisor took home the box of Netware manuals to see what he could
learn. (Maybe he'll get discouraged, and bring them back!)
Cheers!

We have one campus that uses all remote boots for it's student
machines. They run DOS, WIN and 95 on those machines so it must
be a 95 boot image they use. If you can make a boot floppy you
should be able to make an image as long as you use VLM/NETX.

I was trying to get rid of the double login (Netware/WIN) that
was occuring with the old Novell client. I've since tried the
new Intranetware client and it's password caching (default)
seems to stop that once you have used the machine and your .PWL
file is there. At least that's the way I remember it.
Then again .. it may have been related to the registry that I copy
on every boot.

On an "relatively" isolated net you mean WINS? The rest of the
district does not use it and we don't have enough WIN services
to bother. So far we've just been using LMHOSTS files.
I'm not familiar with ZONES in anything other than MAC environs.
I setup a Zone for our Mac's on NT because our router is still set
to pass the traffic and there is confusion with another campus.
If we fix the router I assume our Mac's will need a Zone and don't
know if they can create their own without a server or router.

I setup the 4.11 last week with the hopes of using it for a
remote backup of the 3.11 servers. Always easier to restore
if you don't have to completely install the backup SW also.
I messed up on the TCP/IP install and haven't figured it out
yet. I suspect a different nameing/bind statement convention.
NDS is really different but the utils are cool! Now to find
out what the Netsync*.nlm's do exactly.

Actually, there is no "setup" program for NE2000 (16bit) or NE1000 (8bit)
cards - the originals all used jumpers.

What sort of basic functionality problems?
I am totally 3com based, but my friends are LinkSys and other odd brand
ased,
the problem occurs when we combine the networks about every 2 months for game
playing, since i just got my hardware, we'll see how it acts early/mid Feb.
What is the Max length a 10baseT cable can be?

This network... err... the part i'm talking about is primarily used as a
gaming network (yeah i know, not the most productive use for it), and
veryone
networks through win95, and trying to play games through win95 with 32 meg of
ram creates some slow downs....

It *appears* to work rather well. And network backup occurs at night when
there are no users logged on.
If I move that Adaptec 2940 to another slot/IRQ, I will be forced to make
two 3Com 3x590 PCI NICs share an IRQ and I am then out of PCI slots.
Any suggestions?

Understood. But the question is; Is it possible to duplex drives (two
drives two controllers) using the EIDE interface. I would ASSuME you would be
best off using a PCI EIDE controller for at least one controller to avoid
using the secondary ports on most motherboards which usually sit on IRQ15.
I wouldn't practice this. I am merely morbidly curious.
