The card and the PROM most likely don't come from the same manufacturer. Getting the setup for the card (forget what you have) should be possible on the WEB. Getting the PROM setup is going to be harder ... but you might search the WEB for the name on it. We used to get 1 setup disk in a box of PROM's. Find their site and give them a call if nothing else. You didn't saw which lights on the cards were flashing. The fact that they are could indicate a network wiring problem. Assuming you're using 10Base2 ethernet (Are you?) unplug both t-pieces from the cards and use a multimeter to measure the resistance centre to shield from each t-piece. Each should be about 25 ohms if your terminators and connectors are okay. I have known terminators to go dud. What make of network cards are you using? Software or jumper configured? Win95 offers pretty near nil network diagnostics, for a low level hardware test, try running the software on the setup disks which often includes a comprehensive self-test and cable check - (My 3Com 3c5x9 and D-Link DE220CT setup programs do this) Next, try running NET DIAG from a dos box. Need more information really. Now, neither computer can see the other, although they see themselves. > The lights on the NW cards flicker continuously. MSD sees the network I have had the same kind of problem a couple of times now. The problem was in cabling or connectors. Try to bend the coax cable a little near the connectors. It helped in my situation. If that doesn't help, you could try to put new cables and connectors into your network. I assume you haven't changed anything in your Windows network configuration. --- BBBS/L v3.33 How * Origin: Checkpoint * Ivalo, Finland, +358-16-663812, V34/ISDN (2:229/0) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 193 LAN Ref: F1L00001 Date: 01/16/98 From: SCOTT PARKS Time: 08:19am \/To: LOUIE TARPO (Read 3 times) Subj: anyone recognise this?
