I could have looked it up, but it wasn't sufficienly important to the question at hand to motivate me to find such a reference book. The truth is that I haven't seriously used NW 3.x for years, and I only have a NW 3.x server here to test software. It is a 386SX-16 with 4 MB RAM and a 120 MB hard drive! However, I lent it out last month to someone who needed to test something, and I haven't bothered to get it back yet. BINDFIX actually copies the files over so that the backups it makes are *.OLD. -- Mike --- * Origin: N1BEE BBS +1 401 944 8498 V.34/V.FC/V.32bis/HST16.8 (1:323/107) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 193 LAN Ref: ECA00000 Date: 08/03/97 From: EVO Time: 09:20pm \/To: SIMON HUGGINS (Read 3 times) Subj: Email on a LAN Boo! > I've got win95 on all three machines and at the moment they each pick > up their own mail separately at different times of the day. Well, you can use 'the postoffice thing' to setup each user, but I doubt this will solve your problem because when a user attempts to collect mail, it doesnt collect everyone else's mail as well. You need to get a copy of Microsoft Exchange Server (reg WinNT 4 Svr tho) or I know Pegasus Mail can check multiple PoPs at once - netscape Communicator 4 might as well but not sure. If you was to use Pegasus or Communicator you would have to set up the folder which stores the mail in as a shared folder so all computers have access to it and also setup the location to the lders. -- Chris -- --- * Origin: The PowerTech BBS -=Merseyside, England=- (2:250/210.45) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 193 LAN Ref: ECA00001 Date: 08/02/97 From: RADEK STACHOWIAK Time: 03:47pm \/To: ALL (Read 3 times) Subj: Tx + CSU/DSU + router [Hej All] Could someone explain me in *detailed* manner the subject please? Hmm, that's an interesting idea, but keeping in mind that i only have 28.8/33.6 capability over here, and i need full bandwidth on the lines when i access the local BBSes, (file transfers and whatnot) I know i can use WinGate, if i run Win95 or NT. Keeping in mind though, that the server is not always going to be connected to the internet, only when t's needed by one of the workstations. Also i need terminal modem to be able to file transfer to other computers. which, with this setup that you describe looks to me like i would loose bandwidth on the telnet idea. But another thing, are there modem servers out there that i can access from the internet?
