The only place As I have not applied for any I will not dispute this. It's just that I have "heard" (the infamous word) from many that they, the companies out there, are looking for the certs. I worried me. I have no industrial expierence. Infact the only real world expierence I have is what it took for me to turn a single node bbs system into a 5 machine lan utilizing a satellite downlink for Fidonet mail. I started this with no prior knowledge and though Lantastic was pretty easy to just get it going I did learn the in's and out's of the network (Mostly from reading and participating in messages here). While this is no great level of expierence it's all that I have now. However, it's not something I can use as a reference. My Point? Not sure if there is one. I guess it to say that there are some out here in the world who do posses various amounts of expierence and DO NOT have any certs. While there are those with the certs who have no expierence. A point you already made yourself..... oh well... redundancy... And that alone put me a cut above a couple others in getting an Electronic Tech position a few years ago. Never thought about the RT Ticket. My only hands on expierence with a LAN is when I decided to take a simple bbs systems from one node to five. I built a Lantastic LAN it ran faithfully for several years. That seems to be better than anything I have gotten from the university. Thanks for the reply.... I haven't picked up any network cards GM> yet, since i'm still getting some prices.. You would be crazy to use Novell software for this. If you want the OS/2 machine to operate as client only, then you can download the OS/2 LAN Requester and set up a network using NetBIOS with the Windows 95 as a server. The total software cost of this will be zero. If you want the OS/2 machine to be a server, then you will first have to increase the RAM to at least 16 MB, and then upgrade to either Warp 3.0 Connect or to Warp 4.0. The native networking in OS/2 and Windows 95 are completely interoperable, although you may need to manually adjust some defaults, such as workgroup name, to agree. For hardware, a couple of simple Ethernet combo cards should work fine. For only two machines, you could use either coax or a UTP crossover cable. -- Mike --- * Origin: N1BEE BBS +1 401 944 8498 V.34/V.FC/V.32bis/HST16.8 (1:323/107)
