I would like to say a few words since I run both. Please excuse the interruption, I went back a ways and couldn't find the original comment. I think I got the gist... You cannot boot to dos and have all of the networking functions of Win95. You WILL have if you are in a Dos Window but you must have Win95 loaded. Using Net Start you can load the network when booted to Dos but you will only be a client and will not be able to share your resources. While Win95 may semi-auto install, there is a lot more happening. If you check your protocol.ini file and/or the network card configuration you should see a card driver and two or more protocols being loaded to make networking possible. People are always more comfortable with what they know. Like everything else, IPX was designed to solve a specific problem and became the victim of its own popularity. Novell has made significant efforts to repair some of the damage, such as paying for the development of NLSP. -- Mike --- * Origin: N1BEE BBS +1 401 944 8498 V.34/V.FC/V.32bis/HST16.8 (1:323/107) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 193 LAN Ref: DAM00001 Date: 06/11/96 From: CHRIS ROMEO Time: 09:31am \/To: ALL (Read 9 times) Subj: TCPIP ADDRESSING Does anyone know of a package that automatically assigns and manages TCP/IP addresses for SCO Unix ?? --- Opus-CBCS 1.73a * Origin: Chipper Clipper * Networking fun!
