The program may have difficulty locating its files and documents. Make sure that the working folder is specified correctly in the property sheets for the program and any shortcuts to it. Do you wish to run the program anyway? If you click Yes, you receive the following error message: Cannot find the file :\\ According to Microsoft, in a KB article on this issue : Windows 95 does not correctly remap the network drive before trying to run the MS-DOS-based program specified in the shortcut. And their proposed solution (from the same KB article) is : Remap the network drive containing the MS-DOS-based program file using the same drive letter, or change the shortcut to use a UNC path. UNC paths have the following syntax: \\\\\ This does *not* work! It isn't just with shortcuts either - if one types the full \\\\\ in start->run, you get the same results. Win95 is unable to run any DOS programs across the network. Comments/help appreciated. Is there a specific echo area for discussing Win95 networking issues? Is it possible to connect a 486 PC to 2 IPX Novell Networks at the same time using 2 network cards? I cannot connect the 2 networks together, this PC is to act as a gateway from one network to another, basically copying data from one to another. I have a 3Com 3C509 card on one Novell network running IPX and a Xircom parallel port network card which I want to connect to a second IPX Novell network, there are not enough slots left for another 3Com card. I want to map one drive letter to network 1 and another drive letter to network 2. Is this possible? and if so, how? Help would be much appreciated.
