You can identify their IRQ by looking on the card (sometimes they are labeled, and IRQ selection contacts _must_ be connected with the card connector). Identifying memory base address is simple - using MS-DOS debug.com tou must read a byte brom I/O ports starting at 260h and ending 360h. The address at which you will fing a non-FF, is the searched one. Hint: there must be no oter adapter cards in this address range. The more simple way is using WFWG or Microsoft MS-DOS client, or some other software, that can autodetect the card. I'm using Linux with the proper kernel. Well, perhaps sarcasm should be discouraged, but comparisons of server operating systems, as distinct from workstation operating systems, are on-topic. It is pretty pointless to have a LAN echo where people are not allowed to discuss the relative merits of, say, Windows NT and NetWare. Many of the posts in this echo are from pepple trying to make purchasing decisions, and they want information about first-hand experiences of others. -- Mike --- * Origin: N1BEE BBS +1 401 944 8498 V.34/V.FC/V.32bis/HST16.8 (1:323/107) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 193 LAN Ref: D5P00019 Date: 05/12/96 From: MIKE BILOW Time: 12:15am \/To: W. I am new at this board and from Austria/Europe, so - in advance - I apologize for all kinds of mistakes I might make. The problem I have is: At our company we have a LAN with about 40 clients (most of them use WfW 3.11 and a few use Win95). At times where network-traffic is high, some of the WfW- clients hang, the screen stands and warmboot is impossible. This happens (average) 3 times a day. An interesting fact is, that those WfW-Clients hang at the same time but not all of them, while the Win95-clients keep going errorfree. Another fact, that might be of interest, is, that we have an OS/2-Warp-Server and a WinNT-Server (3.5). But it has no effect if the clients logon to the other server. I really could use some help in locating the error. If you have any information or need further information to help me, please contact me via NM. With many thanks in advance and another excuse for my little english (I hope you understood, what I was talking about) 8-) . Andreas --- * Origin: Vienna, Austria, Europe, Earth (2:310/65.55)
