I dispised the trenchcoat look. It's to bad that kirby was never able to do more with him, for im certain that kirby created him for Heck to breath life into. --- Platinum Xpress/Win/Wildcat5! v2.1d * Origin: The Playhouse TC's Gaming BBS/www.phouse.com/698.3748 (1:282/4059) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 101 COMICS Ref: F3K00012 Date: 03/13/98 From: DAVE JANSEN Time: 03:34am \/To: JERED HRITZ (Read 5 times) Subj: Price guides... Overstreet price guide long has been most respected as the price guide bible, but whats hot in one city can be cold in another. It all falls back on the law of supply & demand. --- Platinum Xpress/Win/Wildcat5! v2.1d * Origin: The Playhouse TC's Gaming BBS/www.phouse.com/698.3748 (1:282/4059) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 101 COMICS Ref: F3K00013 Date: 03/13/98 From: DAVE JANSEN Time: 03:48am \/To: ALL (Read 4 times) Subj: the rocketeer Man, whatEVER happened to the rocketeer??? Its now going on 3 1/2 years since issue 3 came out!!! Theres an old saying, about striking while the irons hot. Aperently Dave Stevens does'nt believe in that saying!! He at one time, both as an artist & his character, became very populer, very swiftly!! The dude blew it, as far as im concerned. One does'nt build a fan following by being SO damn slow!! Even a once a year issue would be fast for him!! I loved his strip, with the authetic 1930s atmosphere it had, but comics are indeed, like a drug. If you don't have them, you dry out. Frankly, I just could care less anymore about any future adventures of the character, unless he be brought back for a big storyline set in WW2 where he dies at the end, leaving a son with his girl to carry on the line or such. The character could have realisticly aged, to bring him into the 40s& 50s, then to have had some sons, who could have become the new rocketeer for the 60s & 70s. A LOT more could have been done with the character, but most likly, never will be. It would take a MAJOR reguler effort to get fandom into him again. A reguler schedule with a top notch artist. --- Platinum Xpress/Win/Wildcat5! v2.1d * Origin: The Playhouse TC's Gaming BBS/www.phouse.com/698.3748 (1:282/4059) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 101 COMICS Ref: F3K00014 Date: 03/13/98 From: DAVE JANSEN Time: 02:19pm \/To: ALL (Read 2 times) Subj: Bastian This month, in two annuals with cable & machine man, the origin of bastian is to be reveiled. I predect either a real stupid, predictable origin, or a really great one. In any case, these two annuals shold fly off the shelfs quickly. --- Platinum Xpress/Win/Wildcat5! v2.1d * Origin: The Playhouse TC's Gaming BBS/www.phouse.com/698.3748 (1:282/4059) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 101 COMICS Ref: F3K00015 Date: 03/14/98 From: DAVE JANSEN Time: 11:52pm \/To: DAVID HARDING (Read 2 times) Subj: My trade deal Well, I could get one book for evey two traded in at the swap shop, so I believe I got Hulk #1 in trade. It's not like they're worth much. Good...'cause my copies aren't in the best condition. :) I thought it was a pretty decent series...not a bad story line either... :) I mean, if you're gonna start with the premise that demons DO exist, why not go ahead and have a stuntman meet one while wearing a demon costume? :) My only question was, how the heck can he, err... take care of certain physical needs in that suit? :) DH> Ironically, it'd be cheaper to pick up the entire "Blue Devil" series DH> than to start collecting DC's "JLA" right now... One other DC DH> "worth-nothing" series from the '80s that I'm trying to complete is DH> "'Mazing Man"... and I'm having trouble tracking down #11 (not many DH> stores carry it anymore). Heheheh...well, good luck to both of us! :) John ...
