I used two pieces of 8 foot by 1.25 inch aluminum tubing for my maximized 2m yagi. I was having trouble keeping the elements parallel. I dislike placing the elements through the boom, but rather mount them atop of the boom. This allows me to replace elements if they are damaged by birds or wind. By using 1.25 inch aluminum channel I was able to notch the channel and mount it over the elements. With the screws for the elements passing through the channel and through the elements I was able to make the boom stronger and keep the elements from moving. With the boom brace and this mod the antenna is very stiff but still flexible enough to stand to the wind. -WS --- * Origin: Freedom is choice (1:374/73.2) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 188 HAM TECH Ref: DGD00000 Date: 12/08/96 From: MARK FRILSETH Time: 08:16am \/To: GREG KI0DH (Read 7 times) Subj: ALINCO DR-150T GK> I am looking for a modification file for the Alinco DR-150T. While not for the programs that you mentioned, you might want to look at a program called FODTRACK. This is a simple program but it has a diagram of a very simple interface unit that can be used off the parallel port to control the rotators. I have been using it for a couple of weeks now. I sometimes run it in Windows and at the same time I have ran Instrack to get a beter look at what is going on. --- WILDMAIL!/WC v4.12 * Origin: Borderline! BBS Fido_Net Concord,N.C. I think I may put a larger value diode in there and a small fuse if it'll fit. -WS --- * Origin: Freedom is choice (1:374/73.2) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 188 HAM TECH Ref: DGF00002 Date: 12/10/96 From: DOUG ESPY Time: 07:40am \/To: ROB DENNIS (Read 6 times) Subj: 6m nut... In the Atlanta area the IC-706 is quite popular but most of those guys there that I talk to avoid 2 meters and their 706's were'nt bought for the 2m option. They might use 146.52 on it around hamfests. As far as the receiver and transmitter on it appears to perform well on HF and 6M. I did hear from several sources that on the 706 if one were to put the 2m antenna too close to the 6M antenna the RF saturation from the 6M transmit would overload the GASFET RX amp transistor and take it out but that could happen to separate 6m and 2m radios. This can be corrected with a mobile 50W bandpass filter or one of those mini crossband duplexers. I think some dealers are throwing in the duplexer with the purchase of a 706 to avoid having the radio come back with a bad 2M GASFET. On my Alinco DR-150 I use the 2m cables of a crossband duplexer to keep my Azden PCS-7500 from desensing 2m in the car and it appears to work well for the close proximity of the antennas.
