Not that important, only the size makes it! :) Most people can't decide which to get! 2864ID or 2864D The ISDN line is too expensive here for a normal user. There's no sense paying the Phone bill double, monthly 59.00DM for ISDN as for Analog 28.00DM being only 2-5 min. Online a Day. Is ZyXEL working on the 32,000 speed negotiation that U.S.Robotics has implemented in their modems at this time? Users of this new speed negotiation say it improves their 28.8 connects, prior, they were getting only 26.4 reported. I read that this was a Flash prom upgrade. Does ZyXEL have this available to try for making a connect with a U.S.Robotics at 32,000 speed negotiation. Regards, Mark ... What orators lack in depth, they give in length. ... My confusion arose from looking at the table to order from (with the check boxes) - only one Omni listed. Where on the 3-color mailer order form do you specify "S" or "P" so ZyXEL knows what you're ordering? I'm looking for a "plug-n-play" unit for the mailer/BBS here (i.e. like the U-1496E+. I took it out of the box, plugged it in, let IM set it up, and have never had to touch it). Something that will get v34 connectivity and throughput (with relatively clean phone lines) without an endless search for the "perfect init string". Via SLMAIL v4.5 (#0367) I have heard and even seen docs on upgrading a zyxel u-1496e to a plus model, now that I have the time to contemplate it i can no longer find any information on it. Has anyone out there done this or heard anything about it??? For those who are thinking of a simple hack, it wasnt, one of the things that needed done was upgrading the 12 mhz 68k to a 16mhz, another thing was adding ram, the version I have seems to already have the daughter board with the ram, wich should help. you also need plus roms (no problem as they are ftp able) The only logical thing I havent found is that somewhere there must be something supplying the 68k with 12 or 16 mhz signal. From looking at the board it looks like eveerything is derived from a 40mhz cristal. but currently I havent looked close enought to determine how.... Any help, or ideas would be welcomed.
