I have the plans and circuit board to put the digital frequency counter onto/into the hw101, if you decide to purchase this from the other fellow. DD+Bob do you have the Power Supply for the HW-101? Hiw +stable is the VFO on the HW-101? Some, in the past, had +developed some drift problems. Might be intrestred if the +price is right. Isn't the HW-101 the 20 meter version?? Don, I have the power supply (quite heavy) which has a meter showing 365.4 hours usage. I also have the original Heath manual. The unit is a 200 w PEP SSB/CW tube transceiver covering 3.5, 7, 14, 21, 28, 28.5, 29, 29.5 MHz HAM bands. The RIT mod reflects a toggle switch installed directly below the S-Meter and a small calibrated dial pot installed to the left of the S-Meter. Otherwise the unit is stock. I've only used it for a few hours in the receive mode where it was compared to a modified Yaesu FRG-7 and Sony 2010 (modified with a Collins mechanical IF filter). Stability was very good after sufficient warm up but voice quality was mediocre. That due to the stock speaker. I hooked up an inexpensive RS speaker through the external speaker jack and the sound quality was greatly improved. A licensed friend checked out the transmitter with a dummy load and pronounced everything sat. This was all about 4 years ago. The unit hasn't been fired up since. The HAM in Sacramento that I bought it from was the original owner/builder. I'd like to sell the HW-101 with the Yaesu YD-844 mike and chrome Bencher paddle/MFJ keyer. I figured around $195 plus shipping would be fair based on what I paid for the package, but make me an offer. I'd also be willing to throw in the Robot 800 and manual gratis. It's an interesting piece of history. That power supply is fairly heavy so I'd expect the UPS charges to LA would be into double digits. I've got plenty of proper packing materials to protect the tubes as installed so that shouldn't be a problem. 73's -=[Bob Allman]=- allmanr@sups28.ellsworth.af.mil * 1st 2.00 #427 * Bald is beautiful.
