Hi EJ, I dove with the friend of a friend who decided to do his own thing. He broke every rule, deep, long, alone, gotten the bends, etc. Never dove with him again and won't. As I told our mutual friend, it's okay if he wants to kill or maim himself but it's not fair to take someone else with him. (At the very best they screw up a dive trip for everyone else.) I'd strongly recommend finding someone who likes the same kind of diving you do; 'cause I doubt you will reform the other guy and both will be unhappy. On the positive side, a well matched buddy makes for a good experience for all, and that's what it's all about, no? jim g --- GEcho 1.11+ * Origin: The Transporter Room: 16 lines, Internet Access 704/567-9513 (1:379/1) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 186 SCUBA Ref: D2G00004 Date: 02/09/96 From: JAMES GAMPPER Time: 08:09pm \/To: DENNIS SEAVEY (Read 1 times) Subj: Re: Scuba Equipment DS> A little while ago I threw out a couple of requests on this echo that DS> I would like to repeat. We are all beginners once, and I respect your call on that one. any ways I am mad at myself and my dive shop, I had an injury a couple onths back wich left me 47 stitches in the forehead, missed the rescue diver class and now have to wait until march or april for the next one. Sigh it's not their fault that they don't have another class of that nature scheduled until then. However I won't take it from anyone else, they are like family, so I bought the Master diver C.D.rom and am studying it, only using it as a reference during my apprenticeship though, I don't believe in mail in diplomas. I am also feeling really dry, I feel the need to dive... lake, sea, pool, bathtube, mudhole..........
