Zack, have you got the modification where they added the cap across R4? It's a .022 uf cap across R4, which is in the phone line input area. You can do it yourself, or give ZyXEL tech support a call. This is a viable question. I've been waiting faithfully for a v34 modem, and even applied for a beta position (of which I've heard exactly nothing). I've held off getting a v.everything from USR (even though I could pick up a new external v.everything from USR for $249 in their sysop program) because I wanted the caller id feature and liked the failure free connections afforded by Zyxel. I intend to keep my 1496E+ for my second node, but it's past time to upgrade my primary modem. Now USR turns on the heat....Zyxel had better shit or get off the pot. I *know* USR will have very favorable sysop pricing; something that Zyxel has been promising for months, and yet another deadline passed last month without any decisions. Zyxel can't decide what they want to charge sysops? They need to fire the person responsible for this.....my cat can make a decision quicker than their record would indicate they are capable of. Unless, of course, Zyxel has decided to do away with their sysop program altogether..... The information is displayed in this form: Caller Number: 6042541903 Caller Name: James E Jay Caller Number: Out of Area Caller Name: Out of Area Caller Number: Private Caller Name: Private To turn on CallerID issue the command ATS40.2=1 To turn CallerID off issue the command ATS40.2=0 The format also depends on your telco. When I had callerid in Saskatchewan the Name and Number positions were reversed. Some terminal software may be confused by callerID. You must also have the modem answer on at least the second ring inorder for the callerID information to read. This is because the callerid information is sent between rings. Perhaps they will do better next time, but I won't buy another. If I had less scruples, I'd sell the Sportster I've got now and get another brand.
