It is a small hole between the right and left atria of the heart which causes nitrogen saturated blood to go back into circulation without going back through the lung and "off gassing" as it should. About 10 percent of the population has this condition many don't know it until they dive and become bent. If you truly have this condition, you should not dive. Even divers which stay in the limits of the computer or table get bent if this condition exist. I am curious, were you using table or computer? What was your maximum bottom time and depth? Hey Brian, another Great White North diver, eh? :-) I don't usually dive in balmy 72F water temps. I know it IS warm for northern divers but after a couple days of repetitive dives in that water temp can get to you eventually. That's why I dive with a 1/8" when I'm down south. BL> that, I wasn't putting a fin in the water until my dry suit came. I Hey, at least you got a drysuit! I'm thinking of getting one next year if I'm doing as much diving as I got in this year! I've been down to low/mid 40's in a 1/4" at 75ffw. Man, that's cold! I'd say I've made the biggest transition with regards to water temps. I was born and lived in the Caribbean for 18 years where the water temps rearly goes below 75F, moved all the way up to Canuck land (Canada) and picked up scuba. Now I know I'll never take that 75F for granted again! What was I thinking? Ha ha... BL> So just remember us divers way up in the great white north, the BL> next time your shivering looking at your temp gauge, and it BL> hovering around that chilling 70F mark. Hey, I've done the best of both climes and I know how they feel. I was just giving a little bit of personal advice to someone in need. I chill easily but was comfortable this year in my 1/4" in 55F (+/-), mind you there were a couple dives where I wasn't. It sure doesn't take a real man to say, "Hey, I don't get cold."
