My friend who took the diving class with me does not -> have a job and can not rent the equiptment.... I would like to start -> diving. Does anyone have any idea where I can find a dive club or -> anything like that in the Miami/North West Dade area? I'm sure you'll get lots of responses to this, dive clubs are everywhere down here. In the meantime, however, you don't have to wait. Every dive boat I've ever been on can and will accomodate a lone diver, even a beginner. I suggest Key Largo because almost all sites are relatively shallow and a good place for novice divers to gain experience and confidence. Call a few and let them know you're a relative novice without a buddy, one or more will have something you'll really enjoy. Lee --- PCBoard (R) v15.21/M 2 * Origin: The Cross Roads BBS Ft. I have never heard a -> whistle under water and I have been diving for 18 years. I would -> like to see this one. About how much do they cost. My wife and I both use them. Ours have the name STORM on the side and are about two inches long by about an inch high, made of orange plastic. The look like a whistle extended into an air chamber at the rear bottom, which, of course, is exactly what they are. We got ours from Browne's Third Lung here in Ft. Lauderdale, but have seen them around other places. Lee --- PCBoard (R) v15.21/M 2 * Origin: The Cross Roads BBS Ft. I was also -> told it was a sign of distress since it was easier to pick out a mask -> on the forehead amount divers. I recently saw a diver in distress -> last month during an OWI class. The two divers miscommunicated and -> fought for a reg. during buddy breathing. The looser shot to the -> surface. I wasn't had to tell he was in distress at the surface. He -> was the guy screaming, coughing, and flailing his arms... and his -> mask wasn't on his forehead. One has to wonder where the dive instructor was during all this. To the best of my knowledge, a paniced diver is an instructor's biggest concern, they almost always forget ascent rates and head for the surface at the speed of light. I am looking for a -> cover to go over the DC-12 to protect it from sliding on rocks etc. -> I have seen a wire mesh set up and did not like it. Has anyone seen -> anything better? I use the wire guard on both my wife's Oceanic and My USD Monitor I. It keeps the rocks off the lens without restricting my view or access much. The only drawback I've heard of is that some people report they tear up the rubber on the console. I haven't had a problem yet. I've seen some plastic covers around as well. They fit right on the lens and take the scratchs rather than letting the rocks, etc. get to the computer itself. I'm not sure how they attach or if they're available for your DC-12. I'm going by a shop which I think carries them today and I'll check to see if they have one for your computer. Lee --- PCBoard (R) v15.21/M 2 * Origin: The Cross Roads BBS Ft.
