Iron (steel) -> is denser then aluminum so its less bouyant. Also steel is stronger. These are both factors. The density issue is obvious. The strength issue traslates to higher pressures and thinner walls, both of which mean more air per external volume. Your height does make a difference, but before you commit to higher pressure steel tanks, make sure the places you'll use them can fill them to capacity. The state park is in close, the sanctuary out to deep water. They're accessible from Key Largo, the nothernmost Key. We go with American Divers most often and have never been disappointed. 2. Looe Key - This is the second sanctuary in Florida and, for my money is the best site in the State. When you're 30-40 miles from Key West, start looking for a dive shop which looks interesting. When you get to Key West, don't miss Sunset at Mallory Docks. Anyone can direct you. Get there an hour or two before sunset. If so I may have seen some on the CARLINGFORD off about Pt. Maitland just this past weekend. alled a Round Goby , a natural predator to the zebra mussel has been discovered in the St. Clair River. Have you heard anything to that effect? This Round Goby as it is called is yet another "import" and is the natural predator from the Zebra Mussels home environment. Answer: The quaggas are white and do on occassion have black stripes. They tend to be deep water pests. Don't know about the size thing. Up until last month I know nothing about quaggas. Also some other zebra morph working its way across Lake Erie. Can't spell it though! Don't know anything about the fish. Maybe others can post?? He was diving in a cave called the elevator. I believe the news media said he had his advanced underwater. The silt from the cave was stirred up and the diver got lost. The name of the diver has not been released at this time. Jess Williams I do not claim that all of this info is 100% accurate, I just saw the report on the news. I am 100% sure that it happened at Sharks Cove. ___ Blue Wave/QWK v2.12 --- WILDMAIL!/WC v4.12 * Origin: Phantom Connection (1:345/4.0) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 186 SCUBA Ref: CDB00028 Date: 09/04/95 From: JAMES GAMPPER Time: 03:59pm \/To: MONTE RINKENBAUGH (Read 1 times) Subj: Re: RESCUE DIVING MR> Sorry James but we might be able to go diving sometime. keep in touch MR> on what happens in your depth of the water (not neck of the woods) Hi Monte Not as sorry as me! Stop in Key Largo and dive Pennekamp. We use American Divers and have never been diappointed. Others are probably as good. Also consider a trip down to Key West, about 100 miles further. Stop in the Big Pine Key area and do the morning dive at Looe Key, possibly the most spectacular sites in the Keys. Drive on into Key West and have late lunch at Pepe's. It's a dive on the outside, but has some of the best food in Fla. on the inside. About an hour before sunset, get your family to Mallory docks for sunset. All the street performers, and other interesting people perform there nightly. The sunsets are spectacular and the show is both good and free. -> I am also always in the market for good deals on gear (with three -> of us in the family diving I need to get deals). Most of my diving -> has been in fresh water in Eastern Ontario so I a looking forward -> to the change. I presume you're driving down from Miami. If so, go west to the Turnpike and take it south to the end. You'll dodge a lot of traffic and get there quickest. You'll come off the turnpike in Florida City. Continue south on U.S. 1 and you'll see at least one, maybe 2 discount dive shops on the right just after you leave Fla. City heading south. When you enter Key Largo, you'll see another one in a strip shopping center, also on you're right, just north of American Divers I believe. Both shops often have deals, but it pays to know what you want and what you should pay. Not everything is always a deal, in either place. Quality, however, should not be a problem, as far as I know, both sell new equipment. You're in for real treat. If this is your first time in Fla., you're not going to believe you eyes. Warm water, good visibility, great coral and more fish than you can shake a ..... well than you can believe. Lee --- PCBoard (R) v15.21/M 2 * Origin: The Cross Roads BBS Ft.
