They have the best prices I have seen.. and am questioning the quality as compared to TUSA or Scuba Pro. For the record.. they do not make their own stuff.. what I was told it is that is manufactured by one of the largest manufacturers of Neoprene wetsuits in the US. (When I asked about he wetsuits). I want to buy a mask/snorkel/fin combo.. and they have several from about $75-$115 (Force Fin Combo). I just started scuba and if this tuff is decent.. I would like to go with Performance. I've never been an industrial diver and am not familiar with the Dreagger system Mark. It sounds like an older semi-closed rebreather system using pre-set mixture controls. If so, prepare to be amazed by some really remarkable stuff coming on the market in fully closed circuit computerized rebreathers for sport divers. (for, oh say.... ten or fifteen *thousand* dollars a pop!) Nitrox is a pre-mixed compressed breathing gas which uses standard SCUBA gear (with some added concerns if the mix exceeds .4fO2). I find it's a better gas for recreational diving than standard air, but is so expensive that I rarely use it. More and more shops in the area are considering Nitrox though. In the past few months in this area alone I know Puget Sound Dive Ent., Lakewood scuba and Sound Dive are *considering* installing Nitrox blending stations (Sound Dive currently supplies pre-mixed gas) and the Pacific Reef (before he went TU) actually supplied it at cost (about 10 cents a cuft). Hopefully as the supply increases the cost will come down to a reasonable level. ... Always cut the cards; you won't lose as much nor as often. Activity in the club has slowed down recently due to the fact the a large number of members have opened dive shops so are not diving with the club as frequently. Also, in previous years we were able to offer free with membership a card that enabled the holder to receive a free VIP, annual inspection of regulator, and 10 fills. This brought alot of members into the club. We are no longer able to offer this incentive. We have a dedicated phone line and answering machine to disseminate club news and find dive buddies The number is (905)836-8796. Membership fees are $25.00 a year. The club is a member of DAN and is in the process of being incorporated. I would like to know if there are any dive clubs in Southern Ontario that would be willing to form an affiliation with our club. Divers could participate in the dives of the other club. This would enable both clubs to reach a "critical mass" for booking charters, etc. In the past the club has made trips to Cornwall, Florida Keys, and numerous other destinations. We are also accepting new members. ___ X CMPQwk #1.42-21X UNREGISTERED EVALUATION COPY --- Maximus 2.02 * Origin: BoarD_BoB BBS Ontario *Canada* (Bottom-Time) (1:250/218) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 186 SCUBA Ref: CAK00022 Date: 06/13/95 From: DON ZANDSTRA Time: 06:52am \/To: HAL MUROCK (Read 4 times) Subj: Re: Scuba -=> Quoting Hal Murock to All <=- HM> I qualified in 1981 with open water at Key Largo with subsequent HM> dives locally and trips to Bimini and Cayman Brac. If you have been out of the water for "a few years' it probably would be very wise to take a refresher course as a minimum. You should try to contact the YMCA SCUBA organization to have them re-issue your card (if they have records) so that you could get the refresher more easily. Unfortunately, I am currently at work, and don't have any addresses handy. A second option would be since you were certified at one time, talk to dive instructors, and find out if they will give you a refresher without having to see your card. They then could issue a card from whichever organization they teach for. If not, I would advise doing the course over. The downside is that a lot of things have changed since 1981. The upside is that there are also a lot of things that haven't changed. ... The White House: New Home of the Whopper! --- EzyQwk V1.10 01fa007b * Origin: Some Crackpots Use Bottled Air!
