PS> One of these reasons (that I personally have many hours PS> of experience with), is Junk Email. Maybe, but the companies that I've mentioned are ones that are asking for feedback...they want people to write to them. PS> If I get a flyer or brochure in my mailbox, it does'nt cost PS> me anything to toss it in the trash. It's only costing the PS> company who sent it. I have to pay for my Email service PS> only to have 10-20+ junk messages per day. PS> I think it compares to Junk Faxes. But in that case you are paying for the mailbox, you're not paying for each email you receive. A better comparison is paying for a phone line, and putting up with the telemarketing calls and wrong numbers. As well, a lot of Web accounts come with email included...that way you can put a hotlink in your web page to receive feedback or orders. --- Maximus 2.02 * Origin: The House of Comments (1:250/620) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 184 HOME OFFICE Ref: E1S00007 Date: 01/20/97 From: MIKE FELLHAUER Time: 10:24am \/To: ALL (Read 4 times) Subj: Display advertising ED> Anybody design their own display advertising? How do you think a BBS specially designed for Small/Home Based Business people would do? I have been considering this for some time and would like any feedback on the subject. The BBS would be set up mainly as a resource center and information exchange for entrepreneurs. I would also carry the HOMEOFFIC Echo, of course, among others. Honestly, it's an idea that's past its time. The problem with setting up any BBS is that it mainly attracts LOCAL traffic. BBSes are out, the Web is in. First of all, you'll reach a lot more people. Second, you'll reach people from around the world. Now, the downside of going the Web route is you don't reach the people like me who aren't on it. --- Maximus 2.02 * Origin: The House of Comments (1:250/620) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 184 HOME OFFICE Ref: E1T00000 Date: 01/23/97 From: BOB F HOWARD Time: 11:57am \/To: ALL (Read 4 times) Subj: @ sign I just had a mass confusion situation with this @ that caused some real problems. I find one criteria important. Place ads where your customers are. But then when you have not identified where they are that's tough. Suffice to say if one has an automotive product, don't list it with a paper that is mostly read by homemakers, who would care less about tinted windows. The ad should go with things that are automotive, and then some. When it don't work in two tries, pull the add immediately. --- VFIDO 6.20.00 Gamma Candidate 1 * Origin: Asia America BBS (1:102/774)
