It does leave "ghosts" though, on the little mark that is supposed to be the player...sometimes after a shot, when you move the mark, it remains there...or is that just because I have an antique computer system? --- GAPNet Enhanced * Origin: QUACKERS BBS - Cleveland, Ohio (1:157/443.0) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 103 DOOR GAMES Ref: FA300004 Date: 05/25/98 From: RICK GORDON Time: 12:46pm \/To: CHRIS WHITACRE (Read 2 times) Subj: Falken BBS doorgames Chris Whitacre wrote in a message to Ruth Argust: RG> Can you run doorgames on a Linux system (I would ask RG> about BBS software as well but that's not topical:-)? Curiouser and curiouser I went to the site and found some actual doorgames (besides the BBS package you mentioned)... of course over half the doorgames were in *.tgz format which drove me nuts (both in downloading and unarchiving) but I finally found a DOS utility that got the job done (never did find a Windows utility though)... I also noticed that every doorgame archived with TGZ did NOT have a file_id.diz which complicated things futher... ah well, at least I have a few more doorgames in my collection now:-) Seize the day! The game will be awsome too when finished, whenever that will be. :) I want to make it as large as I originally planned, so it might take me a few months to get everything in and tested(with the help of several betas). I thought up a new design for my game editor, so when I have it finished, I should be able to get things done in less time. But I started out with cassette Basic on an old 8088 that wouldn't boot. :) First IBM I ever had, though. I got the floppies working a couple months later, but before then, I learned a lot about IBM Basic. I already knew other versions of Basic, such as Atari's, but IBM's was a little different. And even though I couldn't save my programs, I played around with it none the less. Later on, when I got the floppy drives working, I started in regular Basic(and could save to disk), and eventually QBasic. I tried other things about a year or so after that, when I had gotten a better 8088 and a 14.4 modem. :) Asic is an example. It lets you compile, while still keeping that Basic feel. I never really got into it, but it was nice. But if I hadn't known all these different Basic's, I probably would have had more trouble learning Pascal, if I had wanted to learn it in the first place. Now that Pascal is a breaze, I think I'm about ready to learn C. But I'm gonna hold off on that, so that I can focus my attention on this game. :) ...
