Call them and tell them you can put the same info, or messages, even pictures, in place of the obvious add-on they did, making the brochure/flyer look much more professional. You can use any word processor to do this, and some programs like MyAdvancedBrochures make it easy. Go to realtors and find out what they're paying for; you may be able to do it better and cheaper (or just better), and eliminate their handwritten notes on prepared whatevers. Check with motel/hotels that have conference rooms, find out who's giving presentations/seminars; some of them aren't big enough to justify having professional preparation. My pre-teen daughter uses whichever of our computers is available, a color inkjet, and a plastic comb binder (from about 125 to $400) to put out some good looking handouts. She turns down business; "Dad, I'm a kid, you work all day, I need to play sometimes". --- WILDMAIL!/WC v4.12 * Origin: City Lights <612-633-1366> <12 LINES> <28.8 D/S> (1:282/108.0) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 184 HOME OFFICE Ref: D5S00008 Date: 05/21/96 From: LAURIE CAMPBELL Time: 09:24pm \/To: BARBARA O'KEEFE (Read 6 times) Subj: SALUTATION/BUSINESS Ltr BO> But the best ones are the phone calls I get here in Miami...seems no BO> one knows how to pronounce O'Keefe....and for sure BO> when they can't pronounce my last name, they are BO> goners.. We offer subscriptions to the BBS here... pretty modest really... $5/month for the full BBS (and less for 3 and 6 month subscriptions), access to numerous CD Roms for downloading, lots of echoes, free routed EMAIL, not to mention sysops who will hold hands and answer questions for new folks. Invariably it's the non-subscribers who make unreasonable demands, and generally right after they complain about how lame the BBS is, or how we don't run their favorite game (although there are over 80 registered doors running). Somehow I don't feel obligated to take them very seriously. ;D Take care, Sue --- InterMail 2.29c * Origin: Com-Dat II - Mail Node, Hillsboro OR, Hayes 28.8 (1:105/330) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 184 HOME OFFICE Ref: D5T00001 Date: 05/22/96 From: LES DOLL Time: 08:29pm \/To: KENO SHENONO (Read 6 times) Subj: Home Based Business -=> Quoting Keno Shenono to Ken Vaughan <=- KS> Hi Ken. In regards to your message about a home based business? I KS> have a great idea you may want to try. It is called self publishing. KS> What you do is write reports or booklets on any subject that may be of KS> interest to others and then advertise in magazines, newspapers, or the KS> internet. You can make a two or three page report or a ten page KS> booklet, it's up to you. One man from California wrote a three page KS> report on ways to solve a gardening problem, he made $45,000 in just KS> three months. All of this can be done at home on your computer. You KS> can even use your modem to recieve printing jobs if your printer KS> cannot handle all of the orders. This is a legal business and very KS> profitable. Please let me know if you need any more information. KS> Keno. :) Hello, Keno. Several questions for you, if you don't mind my butting in here. 1) Have you published and sold a report, yourself, by this method? 2) What would be the costs of advertising and how would you word such an ad to be cost effective ? 3) Any more details on recieving printing job via modem ? I have written (and have had published) several report type articles for a local magazine and have several more in the works concerning R.V. (Recreational Vehicle) topics. I very much enjoy writing these articles and have some experience in the field.... I live full-time in a 31 foot R.V. and I am employed as an R.V. technician. My articles are aimed at not only the average R.V. owner, but also at the people who are involved in the repair end of the industry. So far nothing I have written has been "sold", but your comments have sparked some ideas, and any further info that you could supply would be well appreciated. Regards; Les Doll ...
