Because i bet they had sucess in preventing people and the news station to stop spying on them and bother them about if they have aliens in Area 51 etc... They do have people out their that thinks that all that stuff is a covert up. The reason why Canadian Channels show US cover ups because US haves to much influance on Canada. I bet US secretly supporting Quebec to split up from Canada because they know Britsh Columbia and Alberta maybe would Join US and forcing the rest of Canada after while to do so to. Last year, US wanted to buy are Vancouver Island so they won't afto pay to have merchant ships to pass thru to Alaska and vice versa. Canadians troops could go alot more then one mile inside US terrotory before US forces are able to stop them. One of the things I enjoyed when ROS> beta-testing Leviathan's Reef (from Shining Star Software) was the fact ROS> that it ran as well on my OS/2 v3.0 system as it did on the DOS and ROS> Windows machines. ROS> We never did find a Linux setup to test it on tho..... Hmmmm...... Hey, why not give my door a test run on your OS/2 system? :) The name of the game is Defenders of Zentax, and you'd be able to FREQ or download it from the normal DDSDOORS places, or get it from the website a friend made for me at http://members.tripod.com/~zeltar. The filename to FREQ was DOZPB1.ZIP. I'd be interested in knowing how well it runs on there myself. hehe. ROS> As to your system, the only problem I could envision would be that ROS> some of the routines may run too FAST on a newer computer. ROS> Developing on what might be considered ancient hardware has the ROS> advantage of forcing you to use efficient code - the older systems just ROS> didn't have all the fancy stuff the new ones do. If it runs well on ROS> your 386, then it should run well on anything newer. Yep. I noticed some things in LORD, for example, which ran horribly slow on the 8088 I used to have. Like when it would process one of the screens from the external files. I wrote a short program to display those files myself, and it displayed them much faster than LORD. I ran it through the same door driver(DDPLUS) as Seth did just so it would be under the same conditions. Seth probably programmed LORD on at least a 386, because that seems to be the slowest system one can run it on at a good speed. I started my door on an 8088, so speed was a must. :) ROS> BTW: if you can run Windows 3.1 on that system, you should be able ROS> to get an older copy of Netscape running as well. Then the only ROS> drawback would be modem speed. Believe me, even my P166 has to wait ROS> more than I like when surfing the World Wide Wait. I'm running Windows 3.11 for Workgroups. It takes half my main hard drive(it's a 42 meg MFM, my second one is a 10 meg, which I just store stuff on) and practically the only thing I use it for is Juno. :) But I'd be interested in trying an old version of Netscape...do you know anywhere I might be able to find it? I might be able to get a friend to download it for me if it's on the internet. As for speed...I'm used to slow Windows programs. hehe. I timed this before: Juno takes about 1 minute to start up to the account selection screen. It takes another minute to start the program after that. Then it takes about 1-2 minutes to exit. hehe. Plus, being in CGA, I have to use a few screen "tricks" to swap between the top and bottom of the program, since my Windows runs in 640x200x2, and Juno is made for a 640x480 screen. I almost can't imagine what Juno would actually look like in color, and completely on the screen. :) But being able to use the internet at all would be good, even at 14.4. Even text is better than nothing... ROS> Good luck to you.... we are all waiting on the first release! Thanks. And it's already out. :) Just the first beta, but I gotta make sure there's no problems. ...
