I own _Udu Wudu_, CR> _Attahk_, _Live_, and _Kohntarkosz_, and that Mekanik Kommandoh CR> sounded every bit as good as any of those. DM> I have _Attahk_ and _Live_, and used to have _Mekanik Destuctuw_ and DM> _Kohntarkosz_. I can't get to my Can LPs at the moment, but wasn't DM> _Udu Wudu_ one of theirs, is is memory failing me worse than usual? Well, _Udu Wudu_ might be a Can album too, but it is definitely at least a Magma album title. DM> Is it just me, or does Magma remind anyone else here of Carl Orff's DM> _Carmina Burana_? I'm told that Carl Orff was a BIG influence on Christian Vander (drummer and leader of Magma). MB> Red King Crimson CR> My favorite Crimson. DM> I think I prefer _Lark's Tongues_, myself, bit _Red_ is up there. Both are phenomenal works, but I just prefer the roar of _Red_. I think it has mostly to do with the emotion of "Fallen Angel" and the absolutely tingling climax of "Starless." MB> Brain Salad Surgery Emerson Lake and Palmer MB> A Passion Play Jethro Tull CR> I'm not really an ELP fan, but I do like the whole "Karn Evil 9" CR> thing. As for Tull, I'm still trying to get into them, but _Passion CR> Play_ is my favorite so far. DM> I never much cared for ELP - too much flash and bombast, Exactly. However, the trio is supposed to be in my home town at the end of September and I will probably go see them out of curiosity. This is the first time that a Prog band has ever visited Visalia, CA. -------------------------------------------------------------- - Clark Ray - - email: clarkray@psnw.com - - Web Page: http://www.psnw.com/~clarkray/list.html - -------------------------------------------------------------- ... they're going to change you into a human being! ___ Blue Wave/QWK v2.12 --- QScan/PCB v1.19b / 01-0154 * Origin: MicroLink BBS * Dinuba, CA 209-591-8753 (1:214/80) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 182 60'S 70'S ROCK Ref: ECJ00009Date: 08/13/97 From: CLARK RAY Time: 09:30pm \/To: FRANK SWARBRICK (Read 0 times) Subj: Re: WHAT HAS HAPPENED HER The message from Frank Swarbrick rises higher: FS> On 09 Aug 97 23:44:11, waiting for 22, Kenneth Newman said: KN> @MSGID: 1:229/510@FIDONET.ORG 85011364 KN> On 08-03-97 FRANK SWARBRICK wrote to KENNETH NEWMAN... I bought it about 6 months ago, actually on a English LP first of all. _Mirage_, their second, is slightly better, in my opinion. I saw them play a few of their new music in San Juan Capistrano back in, I think, March. Great show. FS> Magellan _Test Of Wills_: Quite the opposite. Now, don't get me FS> wrong, I like their other album that I have, _Impending Ascension_, FS> but I just can't stomach this new one. KN> KN> Oh, then I probably won't like it. I like _Impending Ascension_ too. _Hour of Restoration_ is nearly as likable. It's funny, 'cause I really don't like any of the other bands on Magna Carte. I even saw Enchant recently at a small nightclub in Fremont (around the S.F. Bay area) and I left after a couple of songs. They were just too simplistic. -------------------------------------------------------------- - Clark Ray - - email: clarkray@psnw.com - - Web Page: http://www.psnw.com/~clarkray/list.html - -------------------------------------------------------------- ...
