MA> When a man is seeking to exercise the fundamental rights that MA>are inherent to all men, and other men, for whatever cause or for MA>whatever justification they have created in their own minds, seek to MA>deny those fundamental rights, whatever means an individual may use to MA>defend his rights is justifiable. You cannot respond to an immoral act MA>with an immoral defense. Once the act has been initiated whatever MA>recourse one chooses against the violator is justified. MA> The violation occurs when one set of individuals take it upon MA>themselves to deny others theior inalienable rights. This is the MA>criminal act. Actions in defense of those rights, therefore, are not MA>criminal. JS>What does that do for those people who have a legitimate, well found JS>fear of being persecuted? THAT is the barometer by which asylum clai JS>are judged. NOT whether or not the economy back home is bad or not. MA> No man should be required to justify to another his right to MA>live, his right to come and go as he chooses, or his right to live his MA>own life as he chooses. Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness MA>are rights posessed by all men. When any man, for whatever cause. MA>seeks to deny, control, or regulate these rights, they are in the MA>wrong. MA> If you set barriers to an individuals expression of any of these MA>freedoms and any individual seeks to tear down, circumvent, or ignore MA>those barriers, he is not commiting a ctime. Thebarier itself is the MA>crime. JS>What you have done is expanded the justification defense, just as JS>El Presidente has in the Zippergate matter, by saying that the JS>underlying offensive behavior, in this case, illegal entry, perjury, JS>false statements, is justified because those that are committing the JS>crimes are merely seeking to better themselves and are "desperate". MA> It is more fundamental than that. Those things you have MA>classified as "crimes" are merely expressions of basic human rights. MA>The offensive behavior is the suppression and denial of these rights. MA>Whatever act is commited in their defense, against the oppressor, is MA>retalitory in nature and therefore moral. The immorality is the denial MA>of liberty. Defense of one's liberty, in the face of those who seek to MA>criminaly deny it, cannot be deemed a criminal act by any but those who MA>seek to distort the law itself for immoral purposes. A. Those acts that I listed as being criminal have been defined by CONGRESS as being criminal. It's the law. Don't like it? Change it. Until it's changed, it's the law of the land. B. Imagine what would have happened if Washington and the rest of the Founding Fathers decided that it was much easier to find "greener pastures" somewhere else rather than to stand and fight for what they believed in. IOW, why can't these desperate people remain in their country and try and improve their lot rather than take the easy way out and abandon their countrymen? Perhaps it's a character flaw? Or is it the easy way out? C. What you are saying Mike is that this country, unlike every OTHER country in the world, has no sovreign rights to protect it's own borders. Or to control who comes or not to this country. Why? Give me one good reason why this country is different. Please don't give me the Emma Lazarus clap trap about "Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free". Or the "we're a nation of immigrants" nonsense. We ARE a nation of immigrants, LEGAL immigrants. We are also, first and foremost, a nation of laws and NOT men or women. I deal with this issue day in and day out. I see the fraud. The abuse, the crime committed by the so called "salt of the earth" who are merely trying to make a better life for themselves. I'll give you an example. There was this guy from Jordan who came here as a student. He brought his Jordanian wife with him and their children. As is custom in his country, he settled marital differences with his fists. She called the cops. He got arrested. She left and divorced him. He married an American girl. Was it for love? Nope. He paid this girl's mother $5,000 to arrange the marriage. She did. He beat this girl three times. The girl he married is a bit slow, because, to hear her tell it, she "fell down a flight of stairs" when she was a child. He was placed in deportation proceedings. He was jailed until his wife posted the bond for him. He beat her two more times after she posted his bond. She stayed with him. He was ordered deported to Jordan. He appealed. He left the United States on January 30, 1998 because his son from his previous marriage was sick and in the hospital. We thought that was the end of the story. Until today. I got a call from a Denver Police detective who said he's looking for the guy because on the 29th of January, one day before he left, he leased three computers, paid by check, took the computers, went to the bank and closed his account, and took the computers WITH him to Jordan. Or would you like to hear about the 7 month pregnant woman from Mexico who got convicted for selling cocaine? Or the guy from Mexico who sexually molested his daughter? Or the Irish "widow" who was arrested 13 times for theft and convicted on 11 of those arrests? Or the Algerian who has been convicted for theft in four states? Or the Peruvian who has been convicted of theft three times and forgery once and who has illegally returned after being deported? Or the British girl who got caught trying to smuggle in 2 grams of crystal meth into the country? What I'm saying is that there are many people who come here that are anything BUT hard working salt of the earth types. You say that your husband is a tile layer by trade. I have a friend who is also a tile man and is also an immigrant. He does excellent work. He's also LEGALLY here. As for your allegation that the quota system is unfair, let me inform you of the diversity immigrant lottery. Northern Europe, Canada, and Mexico are excluded. Everyone else is eligible. It's a lottery based on the luck of the draw. As for the Haitians, those with HIV were ORDERED into the U.S. by a U.S. District Court Judge in N.Y. Where did I read this? From the newspapers that had reported it and from our own sources. As for the Chinese, the allegations of forced family planning, for the most part, are bogus. When various ships were boarded by INS, those Chinese aboard were interviewed by Chinese speaking agents, under oath and on video tape. The overwhelming majority of those Chinese interviewed indicated that they were single, or had no children and had left their wives at home. After activists and lawyers had a chance to talk to them, the stories changed to include wives, forced sterilization, forced abortions, etc. Ask yourself this one question. IF these people were fleeing China because of repressive family planning policies, why is it that they left their spouses behind? Why did the stories change only AFTER lawyers and activists talk to them? I have over 15 years experience in this field. I have tons of actual cases where people lied, cheated, and violated a plethora of laws to get here. I've tried to console American citizens who have been devastated because their alien spouses dumped them right after they got their green cards. I've talked to American citizens who have been defrauded by aliens. I've seen the carnage, the hurt, the damage done. No, not all aliens are criminals. However, let me give you a sobering number. Over 30% of the inmate population in the Federal Bureau of Prisons is comprised of aliens. The crime of choice? The sale, importation, manufacture, etc. of controlled substances. The drug of choice is cocaine. Heroin is number two. Marijuana is a close third. The percentages are higher in the state prisons in states such as Florida, California, Texas, and others with high immigrant populations. As for hard working people, I agree. Many aliens are hard working. Is this now a defense for violating our laws? If they are here in violation of our laws, they need to be removed. It's that simple. Whatever excuse you offer up is not acceptable. Most folks interested in sharing opinions lurk for time, long enough to find out what the rules are and what others talk about here. Then, they pick a thread of interest and comment on that. You didn't bother to invest that little bit of time and therefore came across as something of a twit. For example: Rush does not participate here, never has, and in no other way is or ever has been personally involved with this forum, yet you wrote a message directed to him. Had you bothered reading this echo's rules, posted weekly at a minimum, and simply watched the postings here for a time, you would've known that and not demonstrated your ignorance in an international forum.
