Why is it that when I use Telemate 4.21, and when I try an upload using Zmodem, I always have retry errors in almost the same spot everytime? I have absolutely no problems with the dload, and have had no problems whatsoever with any other protocol except zmodem. When I used 4.20, it always happen around the 26k mark, every file type, evry file everytime. When I upgraded to 4.20, the first upload went past the 26k mark with no problem, but now I am getting them at the exact same spot at 96k. It can't be the phone line, have had it tested twice, no problems with any of the other protocls, just this particualr protocol uploading. Is it a problem with the internal zmodem? I would hate to (have tried) to set up an external zmodem, but if it's already in the package, would like to use what is set up already. This is the best comm program availbale, with the mulittasking features being the one that sets it apart from someone else. I have switched between telemate and telix many times, because telix has no problems with the upload, but I would prefer to use telemate. Do you have any solutions, ideas as to what the problem is, or a quick fix. Like I said before, I have seen the same questions prviously but have never seen the answer. Thanks in advance, and congratulations on one hell of a comm program. Again, contact your sysop and see if he/she has enabled the internet gate portion of the Bluewave door if he has access to one. Works like a charm here. 1:1/31 was pulled out of service close to a year ago due to abuse and extreme traffic flow. For example, when I have the computer plugged into a certain outlet, I have problems; when I plug it into a different outlet (same line, same phone #, just a different jack) no problems. IMO, it's unlikely that the problem you are experiencing is due to a bug in TM. However, it could have something to do with your modem. I would suggest checking you modem init string. With my USR Sportster, I did have some problems until I got the init string fine tuned (USR's are tremendously versatile, but with the versatility seems to come a little bit of temperameng [g]). I know you asked this of Winfred; pardon my butting in here. ALMOST every time this problem occurs, it is either: an initialization string problem where the modem is not told to tell the software to stop sending, or a software configuration problem where the software is not told to obey those commands. With Telemate, be sure that XON/XOFF is off, and that RTS/CTS is on. With your modem, ensure that all software switches enabling hardware handshaking are properly set. Without knowing your modem, what these are is not definite, but with a USR Sportster, &H1 controls transmit (where your problem appears to be), and &I0&R2 controls receive (the typical symptoms here are problems receiving files). Let us know your modem particulars, and I or someone else might be able to help you better initialize it with Telemate. BTW, with the USR, &F1, which is the generic hardware profile, establishes the appropriate settings. ATZ4 resets the modem, AND loads the factory &F1 settings.
