I can load TM.FON into QEdit and the filds are all where they should be, but when TM loads the dial list into TM, the memo fields (and maybe others) are scrambled - they are not associated with the right dial number. Hi Mike, The problem is with your Sportster. You need to tweak your init string for better handshaking, perhaps even a ROM update. I ran a USR dual 14.4 for many years in Telemate, without a problem. Unfortunately, I used ATZ for my init string and I upgraded to a 28.8 last year, so I don't remember the NVRAM settings I used. You might want to jump into the USR echo specific help on your Sportster. hope that helps. ... Hi Herb, Taking a guess, I'd say that your comm port settings in Win95 are the limiting factor. There are a couple of places you need to set the port speed and related settings, with the device manager and in TMW. FWIW, I run both TMW and TMDOS in Win95 on a 28.8 modem without seeing the problem you describe. hope that helps. ... I have a Viva 14,400 bps modem (internal) and I am unable to get decent file transfers using the Zmodem protocol. I get errors with Telemate 4.20 for dos. I thought it might be that my Init string might need to be revised, here is what I am currently using: "ATZ X4 &C1 &D2 W1 L3 S0=0 S57=45" If I use windows software and COMMIT for Windows I get 1600 to 1800 cps, but Telemate 4.20 for dos yeilds only 800 to 900 CPS due to the errors. I have tried fossil software like X00 and BNU but it makes no difference, my port is locked at 19200 yet I can't get a descent file transfer. The errors start occuring after about 32K has been sent. By the way uploads are fine it is only on downloading that the problem occurs. I have noticed that if I use SEALINK protocol in Telemate I can get about 1200 to 1400 cps, but not all systems offer sealink downloads and almost everyone offers Zmodem. I am sure that some of you out there use the VIVA 14400 Internal and are haveing much better success with it than I am, could you please send my your INIT strings so I can compare them with mine and perhaps I can tweak mine up to allow zmodem usage with a good thruput.
