I only distribute TM/W here. Just wanted to make that clear, since your msg wasn't To: All. Anyway, I have a program here that will import a comma-delimited file... it was made specifically to import a 'St.Louis' style nodelist (such as fidonet uses) to TM Dial Dirs (up to 1000 - I think the limit's 200 entries in TM for DOS). It takes field#3 and puts it in the Name field of TM's Dial dir, sticks field#5 in the corresponding 'Memo' field/file, and imports field#6 to the Phone# field of the dialing dir. Does it sound like you can make it do what you want? NL2TM200.ZIP is the filename if you care to FileRequest it here. To my knowledge, it doesn't work with TMW's dial dir.... though if there's a convertor with TMW, that may do the trick. ... Ha ha :) Actually I have many complaints as well. It is just that some of the complaints I have read in this echo have been solely due to the complainer's lack of effort in reading a help file, or in perseverance with the program. For example, the complaints on difficulty in using the dial window. It is soooo easy to use and to dial a number that it astounds me that anyone could find it difficult ... unless they never bothered to read how it works, and was expecting exactly the same keyboard commands as the DOS version. It frustrates me (especially after having worked very hard as a beta tester) to see people complaining about stuff based solely on a lack of knowledge about the product. TMW has several problems that MUST be fixed ... of that there is no doubt. But, many of the "problems" that are complained about here are not problems at all ... they are lack of "know how" problems, and not problems with the program. Problems as I see them: --Jerky screen rewrites on non VLB or non Video accelerated systems (a must fix, but to be honest I cannot repeat it on any system). --Massive GPF problems in just about all TMWFWK10.DLL operations (this is BAD and is by far TMW's biggest problem at this point IMO. This is past being unacceptable and borders on the realm of the ridiculous). --Upload Zmodem transfers can be error ridden and slow (another absolute MUST fix ... and soon!). --Fonts in the terminal window are not easy to set up (it can be done). --Will not allow bold fonts in the dial window. --Too large a memory and CPU overhead for the size of the main executable (for low end systems, this is a problem, but for higher end, it is hardly anything "serious" to complain about at this point). --Occasional problems displaying ANSI characters properly. --A couple of "odds and ends" ... small stuff I find irritating, but not serious enough to even be able to remember without running TMW and finding them. We have to remember that it is a 1.00 release, and the problems will be fixed. One should not judge the whole product based on version 1.00 bug problems. Do any of you recall the 1.00 release of Procomm? Good example eh ... but it has evolved into a fine (bloated maybe) program. Give TMW the same opportunity. Just think, a year from now, first time users of TMW will will not have to face these bugs and will think it is a wonderful program ... and what version number will it be? Who knows, but probably nothing later than 1.0d or something like that ... still a puppy. I do believe that Winfred should not delay fixing the bugs though ... IMO this should be his first priority over and above porting it to Win32. But, this is only "my" opinion. What worries me is that Winfred may not address its major problems right away. Its GPF and transfer problems are an immediate MUST fix if he wants people to register and reccomend the program to others.
