Just an idea. Actually, William, it was the cooperative efforts of Rusty Walker and myself to separate the two echos. This was done some three years ago, primarily as a result of the significant percentage of Linux technical traffic in this echo, and it's adverse impact on the threads that were not Linux-related. The current configuration of the two echos works great for everybody. Linux Technical threads are still restricted to the LINUX echo, and Linux is relatively on topic in this echo, to the extent that it's comparision with other Unices is being discussed, or general information about various flavors of Linux is related. Truthfully, I see no advantage in considering a change at this time; but your opinion is respected. --- * Origin: lawrence@eforest.houston.tx.us | The Enchanted Forest (1:106/6018) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 176 UNIX Ref: F1F00007 Date: 01/07/98 From: NIKOLA STOJANOVSKI Time: 11:41pm \/To: GABRIEL GOMEZ (Read 1 times) Subj: Re: ... -Gabriel Gomez and All talk about ...- GG> Can I run programs of Linux in Unix? If you prefer to throw your money away, then go ahead. Personally, when configuring a UNIX machine, I go with the list of hardware certified for use on the OS I'm planning on using. I've had good luck with cheap hardware and bad luck with "industry standard" hardware, and vice versa. Paying more doesn't mean you get more. Paying attention to the industry, attention to the user groups, and attention to the documentation does, however. --- timEd 1.10+ * Origin: (1:161/418) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 176 UNIX Ref: F1G00002 Date: 01/10/98 From: MATT BENEDICT Time: 11:57am \/To: LOUIE HENRY (Read 1 times) Subj: Re: Linux..... > >I'm new to the Linux :) ...
