Simple question: Is XFree86 only available for 80x86-based platforms? The "86" hints at that, but I'd think it'd be harder doing it that way than making it totally portable. So, any chance of running it under Linux/m68k, NetBSD on m68k, or getting ports for AmigaOS? ^M --- * Origin: The Dreamer (2:205/330) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 176 UNIX Ref: F1E00001 Date: 01/08/98 From: IVAN CLEMENT Time: 08:35pm \/To: JASON PETTY (Read 1 times) Subj: unix JP>is linux better than windows 95? Anybody here with practical knowledge about HPUX? I just got the oportunity to try to straighten some things out on a HPUX system. I can't find a working adduser as executable. That includes all partitioning (4 drives) and network setup as well. I had to abort the install once, but besides that it was my first install. Do your homework in advance and it's not that hard. Then try installing something nice and easy. I think Slackware is easy to follow, others swear by RedHat. Given that this is UNIX and not LINUX, I'll mention FreeBSD too, which has a very pretty and fool-proof installer. RTFM again. Play with some stuff. Break things. RTFM. Re-install. Play. RTFM. Break. Fix. You get the idea... Once you've got some way into that cycle[0], come back and ask a specific question or two, and the chances are people will be more able to help. Regards, Tim. [0] Which, by the way, is never-ending. Once you start, you'll *always* be breaking and fixing and playing.
