You can be assigned your own set of IP addresses, but they won't do you much good unless someone is willing to route them for you. Most ISPs will not (for practical reasons) do the routing setup necessary for a small customer to use their InterNIC assigned IP address. Instead, the ISP will assign some of the IP addresses that have already been assigned to them by the InterNIC to the customer. I suggest you find a provider and talk to them to make sure they will route addresses assigned to you by the InterNIC before you proceed with the form. It's not just as easy as filling out a form and having things magically appear. -- Marc Slemko 1:342/1003@fidonet marcs@alive.ampr.ab.ca marcs@alive.ersys.edmonton.ab.ca --- ifmail v.2.8 * Origin: The Meaning of Life (1:342/1003@fidonet) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 176 UNIX Ref: CCY00005 Date: 08/17/95 From: BRIAN SANFORD Time: 11:31am \/To: MATTHEW BEADERSTADT (Read 9 times) Subj: hi hi can you download any software on this bbs? what kind? please write back. First we changed software and that's been giving us some problems, now the message flags are messed, downloading is impossible, it's just a wreck, I'll see what I can do when I get back in in two weeks. --- FMail/386 0.98a * Origin: Bit O' Bytes BBS St. Albans, Vt. I'll have to learn DB2/6000 by spring of next year. I haven't heard of too many DB2/Solaris installs. I don't think IBM reps are too motivated to sell an IBM RDBMS on non-IBM platforms. I'll check http://www.ibm.com again for their offerings. If DB2/6000 is anything like DB2/MVS, then it'll be pretty easy to pick up. hear it's very similar to Oracle (tablespaces, redo logs, etc.). --Bob. --- GEcho 1.00 * Origin: Ham'nd Indiana. Excellent! The company I work for makes performance monitors for those databases and those flavors of Unix. I get the best responses to our roducts in those shops that have had some mainframe background. They realize that this Unix thing isn't some sort of game, but a life-and-death business struggle. When your company is ready to get some big Unix iron in there, send me a message at nightingale@platinum.com. I'll get you set up with all the right time-saving utilities! --Bob.
